Jean Shafiroff Recently In Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta's new designer Peter Copping presents his second collection for Spring Summer 2016 and receives rave reviews.

Oscar de la Renta showcased its second collection since the death of its founder with a display of Spanish inspired elegance designed by the British Peter Copping. The show took place on Wednesday, September 15, 2015 at the Prince George Ballroom on East 28th Street. Spotted in the front row were - Anna Wintour, Amy Fine Collins, Jean Shafiroff, Lauren Santa Domingo, , David Patrick Columbia and Aerin Lauder-- just to name a few.

The Spring 2016 Oscar de la Renta Collection stood out with bold red — lots of carnation red — black and rose motifs. “We had a lot of pink in the collection as well, but looking through it, I decided that I really liked the idea of going stronger and more with the red tones,” says Copping of the looks.“I was thinking about what Oscar himself was passionate about and what inspired him and just going [to Spain] and finding my own take on it. The combination of red and black was always present.

Guests were all given a red carnation which was strategically placed on each seat.

Jean Shafiroff

The Memorial Service for Oscar de la Renta was this week at St. Ignatius Loyola in New York City.

His family has asked that  donations in his honor be donated to New Yorkers For Children, a nonprofit that helps the  children in foster care in New York City.  (There are over 12,000 children in foster care in New York City alone.) The charity is based on Fashion Avenue.

We spoke with Fashion icon Jean Shafiroff, and she is planning that someday she will donate all of her OSCAR DE LA RENTA gowns to a museum. (The collection is very large and contains one of a kind pieces.)

Jean Shafiroff is a well known NYC philanthropist, and is on the Couture Council board, and a collector of Oscar de la Renta ballgowns wearing Oscar de la Renta in early 2014 at the Oscar de la Renta boutique for The Style Inspiration"; Oscar de la Renta; and Life of Oscar de la Renta.

Last year, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Executive Director Fern Mallis called him "the sultan of suave." At that event, he spoke of his cancer, saying, "Yes, I had cancer. Right now, I am totally clean. The only realities in life are that you are born, and that you die. We always think we are going to live forever. The dying aspect we will never accept. The one thing about having this kind of warning is how you appreciate every single day of life."
