Britney Spears

It was a day of many milestones for Britney Spears. The day after celebrating her 32nd birthday and on the same day as her new album release, the megastar literally stopped traffic along the famed Las Vegas Strip as an elaborate event was thrown in her honor to officially welcome her to her new home at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

In anticipation of her two-year residency, “Britney: Piece of Me,” which kicks off on Friday, Dec. 27, an homage performance to some of Britney’s biggest hits was staged in front of the property. After dancers performed to “Baby, One More Time,” “Oops I Did It Again,” “Toxic,” “Slave 4 U” and “Circus” at the top of the property’s front steps, the crowd’s attention was drawn to Las Vegas Boulevard as the singer’s newest hit, “Work B**ch,” began playing. The city’s newest headliner arrived in an impeccably restored 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible escorted by an eight-car motorcade. Fans went wild for Britney as she emerged from the car and walked through a custom-made LED-lit arch before ascending the stairs to be greeted by Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino President David Hoenemeyer.

With the excitement for the launch of her Las Vegas residency show reaching a fervor pitch coupled with the release of her highly-anticipated eighth studio album “Britney Jean,” ticket demand for “Britney: Piece of Me” has been overwhelming. Given record-setting sales, the next set of show dates for “Britney: Piece of Me” will go on sale earlier than expected, with a public on sale on Saturday, Dec. 7. Guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets now, as some performances are sold out and a very limited number of tickets are available for the previously-announced show dates.

“I already feel like home here at Planet Hollywood. It was so nice to celebrate my birthday and album launch with this incredible welcome event," said Britney. "I am so excited for everyone to hear my new album today, and to experience ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ in just a few weeks!”

Special pre-sales for “Britney: Piece of Me” will be held for American Express cardholders starting Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. PT, and Total Rewards members, the loyalty program of Planet Hollywood’s parent company Caesars Entertainment, starting Thursday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. PT. The following new show dates will go on sale to the public on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. PT:

Europe's "Live At Sweden Rock"

Europe's "Live At Sweden Rock - 30th Anniversary Show" will be released on 2CD, DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Formats on November 5, 2013 in North America.

Europe took the stage in their home country Sweden for a very special occasion: celebrating 30 years of rock music. The Swedish rock band celebrated this event together with 30,000 people at the famous Sweden Rock Festival.

The band performed a total 28 songs, selecting their personal favorite moments spanning from their earlier years up to their most recent songs taken from albums like Last Look At Eden and Bag Of Bones; plus songs they performed for the very first time.

Described as a Greatest Hits show at its bombastic best, Europe's headline festival performance also displayed it's more soulful moments, especially when the band sat down to perform an emotional acoustic set. This particular segment of the concert gave the massive festival atmosphere an intimate club feeling before Europe returned to perform the hard rock anthems their fans have grown to love and cherish.

To pay tribute to some of their biggest rock heroes, Europe invited two very special guests to perform with them - Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) for an electrifying version of Jailbreak and Michael Schenker (MSG, ex UFO and Scorpions) for their tribute to UFO's classic Lights Out.

The set list is full of treasures and surprises. Europe were determined to celebrate and enjoy their long record of hit singles including Carrie, Rock The Night, Superstitious, Open Your Heart, Last Look At Eden, Prisoners in Paradise, New Love In Town and, of course, the ever-present and always electrifying iconic rock anthem The Final Countdown.

The DVD and Blu-ray were produced, directed, filmed and edited by Patric Ullaeus.

Clocking in over 2 hours, 40 minutes of footage, and filmed with state-of-the-art hi def cameras, the concert features behind-the-scenes material, plus an exclusive interview with the band, making "Live At Sweden Rock - 30th Anniversary Show" the definitive Europe live experience. Bonus Features include Behind The Scenes Material and more.

Europe has made nothing short of a remarkable return since they started up again in 2004. Their latest album Bag Of Bones was awarded the 16th best rock album in the world by the prestigious Classic Rock magazine in 2012.

Together with the four latest CD releases to come out this side of the millennium and the five albums they produced in the eighties and nineties. They sit on an enormous song treasure.

Meticulously crafted and produced by Grammy-award winners Joel Diamond and Rudy Perez, the song already has had well over 7 million YouTube views, even before it was released this week on Silver Blue/Summit Records.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj covers the April issue of ELLE magazine, on newsstands nationwide 3/26. She opens up to the magazine about facing childhood bullies, her advice for women in business, and her plans for world domination.

On her dramatic make-under for her ELLE photo shoot:

“When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I’m so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it’s hard. I feel that it’s become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes- you know, nothing – I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”

On experiencing bullying in school as a child:

“I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I’ve always put up this wall – it was a self-defense mechanism growing up – because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It’s sad.”

Her advice for women on how to command respect:

“My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want- and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That’s what it’s all about.”

On her plans for world domination:

“My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I’m thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination- in terms of providing for my family – is absolutely my goal.”

Coco Jones

Teen Sensation Coco Jones celebrated the release of her new Hollywood Records EP, 'Made Of' at the Empire State Building in New York City.

 Story By: G.H. Harding

 Boz Scaggs

OF MONSTERS AND MEN --- Back in 2001, the music industry’s Steve Leeds (then at Universal, now at Sirius/XM) turned me onto a band called The Soundtrack of Our Lives … from Sweden, whose first stateside release, Behind The Music, was just great; especially the tracks “Sister Surround” and “Nevermore.” I still play it now. Besides being just great, great music (very 60’s/70’s-ish and very much influence by punk and rock, The Stones and Iggy Pop); it was just such a welcomed sound to hear back on the radio and in the clubs. The last few weeks I've become thoroughly entranced by a song called “Little Talks” by a band called Of Monsters and Men … from Iceland. Soundtrack broke up several years back, but OMAM draws heavily on their sound and influences, as well as Florence Welch (Florence And The Machine.) It’s equally funny as the OMAM is on Universal; the label that had released Soundtrack. I just received the CD yesterday and there are two more dynamite tracks on there; “King And Lionheart” and “From Finner.” I'm still deciphering the lyrics, but the music, is just superbly produced. “Talks” has in fact a terrific video, that although sheds no new light on what the song is about, will knock your socks off. It continues to amaze me what people out of the U.S. glean from our music; hey, let’s face it: music is one of our biggest exports …. always was, always will be. I know the year is just barely-a-third over, but “Little Talks” in unquestionably the record of the year so far.

BOZ SCAGGS’ MEMPHIS --- The other big music news this week was the release of Memphis by legendary-song man Boz Scaggs. The album was produced by Steve Jordan (John Mayer) and was recorded at the famous Willie Mitchell studio in Memphis, called Royal; where the late Mitchell recorded his classic work with Al Green; as well as with other artists for his Hi Records imprint. Scaggs began his storied career in 1965 with the release of his first album, Boz. He cut his teeth playing with another legendary music man, Steve Miller, and hit it big commercially in 1976 with the release of the album Silk Degrees. As I put the CD on, I hoped it was going to be genuine representation of where the artist was now; rather than a re-hash of his past performances and suggest. I am happy to report is it an absolutely stunningly work; totally honest, compelling and full of terrific song choices; none more so than the Steely Dan classic “Pearl Of The Quarter,” and, certainly the song “Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl.” His interpretations of “Rainy Night In Georgia” and “Love On A Two Way Street” are total successes. Yes, it was like re-visiting Silk Degrees all over again … but, better … much better. If you were a fan, or a fan of great, great music and of a consummate professional … this CD is for you.

Dolly Parton

World-renowned singer and entertainer Dolly Parton has just released a new song celebrating progress in the restoration of the once mighty American chestnut tree, as well as the work of the organization at the forefront of these restoration efforts: The American Chestnut Foundation.

What do Dolly Parton and a nearly vanished tree once known as "The Redwood of the East" have in common? The answer is mountains. "Dolly's music is rooted in the Appalachians," says her uncle, singer-songwriter Bill Owens. "The American chestnut was once the most important tree in these mountains, feeding wildlife and people alike."

Virtually wiped out by a blight in the early twentieth century, this magnificent tree is today poised for a comeback, thanks in large part to decades of work by TACF’s scientists and thousands of volunteers. To help in this effort, Dolly and Owens collaborated on and recorded the song, Oh, Chestnut Tree, which is available as a free download on TACF's website:

The song's release comes as TACF celebrates its 30th anniversary and has recently established plantings of first-generation, potentially blight-resistant trees, called Restoration Chestnuts 1.0. This success delights Owens. A Nashville legend, Owens has written and recorded over 800 songs and is credited with launching Dolly's career; he bought Dolly her first guitar at age 7 and arranged for her to sing on local radio show when she was 10.
