PENCE & TRUMP: PARALLELS TO HAMILTON & BURR

Hard To Die

The buzz about Pence getting booed or cheered (depending on which video you watched) at a Hamilton show is bringing the Broadway play back to the newsfeed, but it's also giving us an interesting view into Pence's interests. Also, his attendance is quite unique given that the Hamilton-Burr conflict is eerily similar to the Trump-Clinton conflict. Aaron Burr is also said by some to be a feminist father figure to Theodosia Burr (subject of the song "Dear Theodosia")...maybe Pence can take notes!

You've heard the raves about the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Hamilton. But what happened to 'Dear Theodosia, ' the fiery daughter Aaron Burr serenades? An inventive new take on the uncharted fate of Theodosia Burr Alston, the fiery daughter of Alexander Hamilton's murderer. Hard to Die is an engrossing speculative fiction time-warp that combines elements of history, the paranormal, and suspense to breathe fresh air into Theodosia's forgotten life and story. By the New York Times best-selling author of Not Without My Father: One Woman's 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace. Hard to Die is the highly-anticipated sequel to To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis.

SOME TALKING POINTS:

Parallels in the politics of 19th century American history to present day.

How anyone wanting to put the recent election into context should become familiar with the Burr-Hamilton conflict.

What drew her to the story of Theodosia Burr Alston.

Why Aaron Burr is similar to Trump, yet why Burr is considered a feminist father figure.

How speculative historical fiction can help modern-day readers understand our past and more importantly, our future.

“Theodosia was on a trajectory to become one of America’s earliest feminists before her life was cut short. Because she was the daughter of a disgraced American politician and she died before she could fulfill her early promise, she has largely been forgotten by history," says Watkins.
