MARIAH CAREY CELEBRATES IN HAMPTONS

Singing star Mariah Carey and new hubby Nick Cannon celebrated their nuptials at a star-studded post-wedding party over the weekend, thanks to her record boss Antonio "L.A." Reid. The couple wed in the Bahamas last April and have reportedly been desperate to celebrate their union with a lavish ceremony.Carey's post-wedding fantasy was finally realized after Def Jam Records chairman Reid put together the party at his Long Island, N.Y., home on Saturday, according to the New York Post. A source tells the newspaper Reid "did it up" for the star, hiring a massive team to coordinate the event. The extravagant celebrations were so exuberant that when the party passed midnight neighbors complained about the noise to police. Carey's celebrity guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Ripa, Samuel L. Jackson and Star Jones.Cannon and Carey are reportedly continuing their own celebration, spending the remainder of the week at a farm in East Hampton, N.Y., that they have rented for $125,000.

BRITNEY SPEARS TO COMPETE WITH MARIAH

Toxic singer Britney Spears will fight till the end with Mariah Carey and Rihanna at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, after they were all nominated for Best Female Video. Spears’ Piece of Me promo is named alongside Carey’s Touch My Body, Rihanna’s Take A Bow, Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl, and Jordin Sparks’ No Air duet with Chris Brown. Meanwhile, in the Best Male Video category, rap hits Low by Flo Rida, Lollipop by Lil Wayne and T.I.’s No Matter What will compete against tracks by R&B stars Chris Brown and Usher, whose songs With You and Love In This Club respectively, are also in the running for the award. The Best Male and Female Video nominees were announced on Friday, and the full list of VMA nominees is to be unveiled in the coming weeks.The 25th VMAs is due to take place at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on September 7th, and will be hosted by British comedian Russell Brand.

Rap singing star Nick Cannon is denying his marriage to Mariah Carey is on the rocks and is insisting they couldn’t be happier.The couple wed in the Bahamas last April after a whirlwind romance, but earlier this week Internet gossips were already speculating about trouble in their relationship. Reports alleged that Cannon was tiring of the superstar’s demands, with one source telling OK! magazine, "He’s basically around to attend to her diva-ish ways." But Cannon has dismissed the claims. He tells People.com, "Marriage is amazing. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me."

According to In Touch magazine, the newlyweds are planning a lavish party to celebrate their wedding later this summer.

Singing star Mariah Carey went after celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on the airwaves on Monday after he attacked her performance on "Saturday Night Live." The online gossip turned on Carey over the weekend calling "Migrate," her collaboration with rapper T-Pain, "disappointing." Hilton upset Carey by claiming the song will be the singer's next single, and stating "it sucks." So Carey took matters into her own hands during a radio chat with Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest, revealing "I'm kinda tired of it (criticism)." Seacrest then invited Hilton to join the chat by phone, prompting Carey to tell him, "I love you, no matter what you do ... (but) you can't hate on that song with T-Pain; you need to listen to it again." She then added sarcastically, "I think I've had this job for a long time." Carey insisted the song she performed on live TV on Saturday night is not her new single. She added, "I'm definitely not even releasing 'Migrate' as a second single. It was just fun to do on 'Saturday Night Live.' ... My next single is going to be a ballad, darling. I ain't stupid. ... I ain't trying to mess with what we already know. Mariah Carey is so desperate to get a new man in her life, she is allegedly planning on going to a speed dating evening, an event where women meet a number of different men on ‘mini dates’, where they meet for a while and move onto the next.
