Madame Tussauds Las Vegas unveiled a wax figure of singer, actress and producer Whitney Houston yesterday.
The first single from Houston’s second studio album was titled “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and earned the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 30th Grammy Awards in 1988. The song’s accompanying video became one of Houston's best recognized music videos and ran in heavy rotation on MTV, VH1, and BET. At Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, Houston’s wax figure will be styled in the same way she appeared in the video, wearing a tight purple-pink tank dress and blonde curly hair.
“We are excited for one of Whitney’s four amazing figures to reside in our music room here in Las Vegas alongside other music legends,” remarked Madame Tussauds Las Vegas General Manager Rosita Chapman.
Pop star Katy Perry posed for photos with a Madame Tussauds Las Vegas wax figure of herself at Paramount Studios on Saturday afternoon.
“Whenever I have to go do something particularly that I don’t necessarily want to do, I’m just sending her cause she’s a great identical version of me,” remarked Perry.
The figure of Perry is featured in Madame Tussauds Las Vegas’ Music Room. Guests have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite music icons. Madame Tussauds Las Vegas And Extra TV sweetheart Adrianna Costa unveiled a wax figure of Sandra Bullock.
The figure is the first of Bullock be added to the Madame Tussauds estate. A vision in red, Bullock is red carpet ready, holding a clutch and wearing an elegant knee-length dress.

With microphone in hand and a sultry expression, the Las Vegas figure showcases Rihanna’s unique personality and confident on-stage persona. The figure is adorned in an alluring nude-colored outfit and features fiery red hair, vibrant pink makeup and long black nails.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood, the legendary wax museum, announced today the official kick off of its “Social Media Figure Contest” during a opening event for Social Media Week Los Angeles, a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. For the first time ever, consumers will have the opportunity to select who they would like to see immortalized in wax for 2013 via social media. The production process for the new figure took place exclusively by hand and daylight, with the head created from natural clay and beeswax materials containing organic pigment and all design materials used in the creation of the figure were recycled upon completion. Additionally, the team that created the figure made an active effort to use environmentally friendly forms of transportation such as cycling and public transportation to get to and from the studio.
