TWIN PEAKS COULD HAVE COMEBACK ON NETFLIX

THE GLORIOUS CORNER

PAGING AGENT COOPER -- Could Twin Peaks be ready for a comeback? Possibly! At least that’s what the Internet is hoping. On Friday co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost simultaneously tweeted: “Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style. #damngoodcoffee.”

The tweet could mean nothing, but past cryptic messages like it have ended up being advertisements for DVD collections, according to media-rag A.V. Club, only there’s not supposed to be any content left to release anew. This, along with the fact that Netflix chief Ted Sarandos is on the record as saying he would absolutely bring the series back, has people wondering if that time might be near.

Twin Peaks was the iconic series created by Lynch and Frost (in April of 1990) that has not only stood the test of time, but set a new bar in the episodic-TV series continuum.

It followed an investigation headed by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) into the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Its pilot episode was first broadcast on April 8, 1990, on ABC. Seven more episodes were produced, and the series was renewed for a second season that aired until June 10, 1991.

The show's title came from the small, fictional Washington town in which it was set.

The show became one of the top-rated shows of 1990 and was a critical success both nationally and internationally. It captured a devoted cult fan base and became a part of popular culture that has been referenced in television shows, commercials, comic books, video games, films and song lyrics. Declining viewer ratings led to ABC's insistence that the identity of Laura's murderer be revealed midway through the second season.

The series was followed by a 1992 feature film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, which serves as both a prequel and an epilogue to the television series.

Fashion-magazine GQ ran a feature in their issue last month on the fashions from the show … which have remained in vogue and which were shown in many of the fall fashion show.

Personally, I'd, love to see it return and if anyone could do it, it'd be creator Lynch, in a totally original way. The man's a brilliant auteur.

PAUL REVERE RIP --- From Kent Kotal via his Forgotten Hits: We lost a good one yesterday ...

A long-time friend of Forgotten Hits, Paul Revere passed away on Saturday at the age of 76.

He had been in poor health for the last several years and officially retired a few months ago, announcing that his band would continue to perform without him as Paul Revere's Raiders. (His son, Jamie, also recently rejoined the band, to help carry on his father's legacy.)

Revere was a rock and roll legend ... as well as a show-biz legend. Pleasing the fans always came first ... he lived to be on stage. (We saw him several months ago at The Arcada Theatre in what would turn out to be one of his final live performances.

Shortly after that, doctor's orders forced him to stay home while the band went out on the road to fulfill their commitments ... and then in July he formally announced his retirement.)

One of the best quotes I have ever read came last night from Terry Currier, who told the audience at The Aladdin Theater on hand for The Oregon Music Hall Of Fame induction ceremony:

Two bands recorded 'Louie Louie' in Portland in 1963.

One ... the Kingsmen ... had a hit.

Paul Revere and the Raiders would have a career.

Loving testimonials are coming in from all over the country ... and more will continue to follow. The first rock band signed by Columbia Records, they would hit The National Top 50 Charts twenty times with '60's classics like "Just Like Me" (#11, 1966); "Kicks" (#4, 1966); "Hungry" (#6, 1966); "Good Thing" (#4, 1967), "Him Or Me - What's It Gonna Be" (#5, 1967); "Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon" (#16, 1968) and their lone chart-topper, "Indian Reservation" (#1, 1971).

This morning, the official Paul Revere and the Raiders website posted a love letter to Paul, signed by Everyone Who Has Ever Met You ... there is no way of calculating just how many lives he touched over the years ... suffice to say that number is well into the tens of millions.

ADAMS FAMILY --- Multi-platinum recording-artist Bryan Adams is releasing of his new covers album, Tracks Of My Years, a diverse collection of time honored classics from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

The eleven-track album will be released October 6th and features a wide range of influential musical styles, from Chuck Berry's “Rock & Roll Music”, Ray Charles' “I Can't Stop Loving You” to The Beatles' “Any Time At All.” The album will also include a brand new track entitled, “She Knows Me” co-written with Adams' long-term writing partner Jim Vallance. The Adams/Vallance partnership was responsible for many of Bryan's classic hits including “Heaven”, “ Summer of '69” and “Run To You.”

A lavish deluxe version of Tracks of My Years will also be made available, with five additional cover songs packaged in a hardback book, containing sleeve notes from Adams alongside retro-style 7-inch single covers.

"Making the selection of the songs for the album took a long time" says Bryan. "We recorded all kinds of songs until the songs sort of presented themselves, or sounded different enough from the originals. We did about 3 months of recording, spread out over the course of 2 years. Radio was king when I was a teenager," Adams reflected, “You'd hear McCartney's ‘Admiral Halsey’ straight into ‘Kiss and Say Goodbye’ by the Manhattans. Radio didn't discriminate back then.”

Tracks of My Years is an eclectic mix of songs reflective of the time when rock was played alongside pop, country and R&B, and follows Adams' critically acclaimed acoustic album, 2010's Bare Bones, a release that resulted in sold out shows across Europe, North America, Australia and South Africa.

Adams is one of the world's most highly acclaimed singer/songwriters. In a career that has spanned more than four decades, his music has achieved #1 status in over 40 countries and sold in excess of 65 million records. He has toured six continents, is a Grammy and Juno award winner and has been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes. Adams has been awarded The Order of Canada, he has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Canadian Walk of Fame and his handprints are in Wembley's Square of Fame.

CLOSING NOTES --- Last night’s two-hour premiere of the new re-booted Homeland was interesting on several levels: First, I watched the two episodes which closed out its last season(season 3) and marveled yet again at Damien Lewis. Damn, he was good and delivered on every level. With that character dispatched at the end of the season, I knew then and knew now that it'd be a hard road ahead. Well, the 2 episodes were pretty good, but you felt Lewis’ absence in spades. What they've basically done is re-set the entire playing field: Carrie (Claire Danes) is now abroad; Saul (Mandy Patinkin) is on his own, so it’s the remaining characters in essentially new roles. Danes and Patinkin are superb, but, they need an anchor. Last season I posited that I may not watch, I'm glad I did, but things are definitely different …

Brit-singer Lindsey De Paul passed last week. The star had a number of top 20 hits and represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1977. De Paul died in a London hospital on Wednesday.

Her biggest hit "Sugar Me" got to number five in the singles chart in 1972 just a year after she launched her music career. She became the first woman to win an Ivor Novello award after writing the top 20 hit "Won't Somebody Dance With Me." She was romantically linked with figures such as Hollywood stars James Coburn, Dudley Moore and, Ringo Starr.

In 2011 she had her own program on Sky-TV titled Lynsey's Love Songs …

Vincent Amelio's How Alfo Learned to Love Women ramps up again Thursday at the National Opera American Center in NYC. Helmed by Robert Funaro from The Sopranos ... it is superb ...

New album from Calvin Harris entitled Motion will be available November 4; with guests Ellie Goulding, Haim, Gwen Stefani and Big Sean ...

The Blue Magoos at NYC's Bowery Electric on Thursday, October 16 tub-thumping their new album Psychedelic Resurrection ...

KYLE MCLACHLAN EXPECTING BABY BOY

Desperate Housewives star Kyle McLachlan's wife Desiree Gurber is expecting a bouncing baby boy.The television actor will become a first-time father when his wife gives birth to the couple’s child this summer. McLachlan broke the news of the baby’s sex during a stint as guest host of Live With Regis & Kelly today. He said, "It’s a boy. I’ve got the golf clubs out already, so we’re going to make him into a little golfer." The couple is now on the hunt for a name for their upcoming arrival, though MacLachlan jokes wife Gruber has turned down his first choices. He laughs, "We’re trying to go through the name thing now. She shot down my first idea: Jethro. She didn’t like that idea." MacLachan adds of his second choice, "Being from Scotland, he could be like, Macintosh MacLachlan". The actor does have one strict rule: "You want a nickname that’s going to be cool."
