KIRSTIE ALLEY'S NEW HIT TELEVISION SHOW

****
TELEVISION LEGENDS
****

Kirstie Alley And Chris McDonald

Get cozy with TV Land this winter! TV Land’s newest original sitcom, “Kirstie,” starring Kirstie Alley, premieres in an extra special way on Wednesday, December 4th at 10pm ET/PT with TWO episodes. The all-star cast of “Kirstie” includes Alley’s former “Cheers” co-star Rhea Perlman, Michael Richards of “Seinfeld” fame and Broadway actor Eric Petersen.

In the premiere episode of “Kirstie” at 10pm, Broadway diva Madison “Maddie” Banks (Alley) panics when Arlo (Petersen), the son she gave up for adoption at birth, suddenly shows up hoping to connect after his adoptive parents have died. Though she initially tries to dismiss him, her BFF/assistant Thelma (Perlman) and driver Frank (Richards) convince Maddie to embrace her motherly side and bring Arlo into her world. In the second new episode of the night at 10:30pm, Maddie finds herself competing with a ghost when Arlo moves in and constantly talks about his adoptive mother. On top of the pressure of trying to be a good mom, Maddie also must deal with the relentless manipulative gibes from her understudy, guest star Kristin Chenoweth. Also stopping by “Kirstie” this season are guest stars John Travolta, Jason Alexander, Kathy Griffin, Cloris Leachman, George Wendt and TV Land’s own Kristen Johnston, star of “The Exes.”

Then, the following week on Wednesday, December 11th at 10:30pm ET/PT, don’t miss the return of “The Exes,” starring Wayne Knight, Donald Faison, David Alan Basche, Kelly Stables and Kristen Johnston. Last we left the gang in the summer finale, Phil (Faison) and Eden (Stables) realized that they were more interested in dating than remaining “friends with benefits,” while the rest of the gang was surprised to find out that anything was going on between them at all. In the premiere, the tension in the group comes to a head when Eden lets it slip that she may have “faked it” a few times with Phil.

 Rhea Perlman

Kirstie Alley
Rhea Perlman will reunite with longtime friend and former “Cheers” co-star Kirstie Alley in the pilot “Giant Baby,” it was announced today by Keith Cox, executive vice president, development and original programming, TV Land. Perlman will play Thelma, Maddie’s (Alley) long-suffering assistant and best friend, who encourages her boss to form a relationship with the son she gave up for adoption, Arlo (previously known as “Owen”). The network originally announced the Alley-headlined project as a presentation last month. “We’ve hit the jackpot getting Kirstie and Rhea back together,” said Cox. “It’s a dream to work with such talented comedic actors like these ladies and create a show for them that’s funny and has interesting characters – ‘Giant Baby’ hits all of those notes.”

“Giant Baby” revolves around Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when Arlo, her long-lost son, turns up looking to connect after his adopted mother has died. However, Maddie doesn’t exactly see nerdy and schlubby Arlo fitting in with her luxurious lifestyle. When her attempt to change Arlo backfires, Maddie finds that perhaps they both could use a little change in their lives.

“Giant Baby” is written and executive produced by Marco Pennette and is also executive produced by Kirstie Alley and Jason Weinberg. Larry W. Jones and Keith Cox serve as executive producers for TV Land.

Alley tells People.com, "After lengthy negotiations, regretfully, the Jenny Craig Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson. ...
"Somehow, I've also fallen into the position of 'accidental' role model for, apparently, millions of people out there losing weight by whatever means. This was something I did not bargain for, or foresee happening. Nevertheless, it is something I've grown to embrace and something I intend to continue to pursue..."I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride. I am especially passionate about seeing to it that our next generations are not struggling with the same weight issues that my generation has struggled with."

KIRSTIE ALLEY DEFENDS TOM CRUISE VIDEO

Former Hollywood television star Kirstie Alley is defending fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise following criticism the movie star received for raving about the controversial religion in a promotional video. Footage leaked online showed Cruise talking about Scientology, calling the religion "a blast" and then saluting a portrait of church founder, sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard. The video was never meant to be seen by the public and Alley insists the criticism over Cruise’s comments prove why church elders were keen to use the footage for promotional purposes only. She says, "Tom was using words meant for a Scientology audience. On the web, the video is take out of context."It’s like a rabbi addressing a Christian church, speaking in Hebrew. No one would understand him."
