Over 40 Females™, a leading networking platform for women over 40, hosted a Fabulous Females in Finance event at The JHouse Greenwich on Thursday, January 10, 2013.


 Judy Goss, Founder & CEO of Over 40 Females, Beth Mercante, COO of Over 40 Females and Christine Oleynick, Fairfield County Chapter Director of Over 40 Females hosted the evening with guest speakers including Susan J. Guests networked and mingled at The JHouse Greenwich before Fairfield County Chapter Director Christine Oleynick welcome welcomed the over 70 attendees to the Fabulous Females in Finance event. Christine then introduced Founder & CEO Judy Goss who spoke of how Over 40 Females™ came to fruition when she traveled as a spokesperson for More Magazine. As a spokesperson, she met hundreds of women and heard their stories yet there was not enough room to fit them all in the magazine. This is why she started Over 40 Females, for women over 40 to be heard and celebrated and to “Connect, Encourage and Inspire.”

Wednesday Nights: Jazz Duo Featuring Vocals by Kelly Mittleman

 

Performing Artist and Professional Vocalist Kelly Mittleman burst onto the national music scene as a finalist of over 5,000 contestants in the NBC Today Show Superstar Contest several years ago. After singing on the show for 6 weeks, Mittleman caught the attention of renowned producer Nile Rodgers, who produced her first album of jazz standards in 2006 titled, “Kelly.” A prolific songwriter, Mittleman wrote and produced all of the songs on her sophomore album, “A New Reason,” released in 2009. Mittleman has also recorded with Diana Ross on her greatest hits reprise CD.

For Maria Meadows singing is like breathing....it comes naturally. She is a genuine vocalist who sings with emotional depth and effortless vocal intensity. Meadows' voice has been featured on numerous recordings including Smooth Jazz artist Marion Meadows, Fantasy Band, Norman Connors and more. Meadows has just co- wrote and recorded her much anticipated debut cd produced by Timbaland Productions team. With her new single “Monster” being played in Canada in both English and French, Maria Meadows is proving that it is finally her time. For a consecutive year, Meadows' rendition of the holiday classic, "The Christmas Song," produced by Grammy Award winner Barry Eastmond, is being featured on Jim Brickman's syndicated radio show.

Located just inside the newly opened JHouse Greenwich hotel’s lobby, the Chocolate Lab is a unique chocolate shop and café, featuring house made chocolates, gelati and pastries, as well as fair trade tea and coffee drinks. The inspiration for the Chocolate Lab was drawn from Executive Chef François Kwaku-Dongo’s upbringing on his grandparents’ cocoa farm in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, where he grew up living off the bounty of the land. His philosophy of using the highest quality seasonal ingredients and letting the flavors speak for themselves carries through to the artisanal chocolates, coffee and tea at the Chocolate Lab. Pastry Chef Didier Berlioz brings his signature nous in the art of balancing texture with sweetness and structure to all of his desserts and confections. The Chocolate Lab uses only fair trade, seasonal chocolate, sourced from three ethical vendors: Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company, Grand-Place® Group and Cacao Prieto. All three businesses are vertically integrated in the harvesting and production of cocoa beans, enabling them to control the quality of the cocoa, from the farm to the finished product. Each supplier represents a different type of cocoa bean, each from a different part of the world.

Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company is a single source chocolate company, using only beans from small family farmers in Ghana. The sale of Omanhene chocolate results in higher revenues and consequently higher wages for both workers at the chocolate factory and for local cocoa farmers. The company gives 95 percent of proceeds back to factory workers and family farmers.

Grand-Place® is a unique multicultural company that works hand in hand with small farms to produce single origin chocolate from Vietnam, an emerging player in cocoa bean production. Single Origin Vietnam is not only a very special chocolate; it is also an environmental friendly product. From the growing of cocoa to the chocolate manufacturing everything is made in Vietnam! Source transparency makes it difficult to hide poor quality and rewards small producers for quality. Like producers of wine, cheeses and chocolates, many smaller coffee and tea purveyors have begun pursuing this objective with a passion.
