Jean Shafiroff With Zang Toi
Patti Labelle With Ivana Trump

Bella Oelmann With David Foster, Kimberly Guilfoyle And Bill Hemmer

Zang Toi's fabulous Spring 2018 collection was shown at Skylight Clarkson Square last night for fashion week.

Zang is a Malaysian born designer who is known to dress royalty and society -- and is one of those fashion stars whom everybody adores. Zang is famous for his elaborately embroidered velvet capes and caftans but today he showed he was a proficient designer who can master all genres. The clothing was much more demure than a typical Zang show but the beauty was still there. Zang is a perfectionist and it showed in every aspect of the presentation including the Zang Toi heels and jewelry chokers that adorned the model's necks. Zang is a master at color blocking and today he mixed emerald green and black, turquoise and white, green and gray, and white and black. He even showed his mastery of pants with an embroidered green sequined butterfly design that adorned gray silk pants. His use of taffeta, silk and cotton was luxuriously elegant and the crowd loved the collection.

Zang Toi Fashion

Some of the luminaries who attended included: Ivana Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Patti Labelle, Jean Shafiroff, Carol Alt, and David Foster David Foster, the legendary music producer, said he could easily see fashion icon Celine Dion in one of the diaphanous gowns and loved the movement of the clothing. Phillip Bloch, Melania Trump's friend, was also fond of the collection and said he would love to style the new first lady since he considers her a close friend and wishes the President would take some fashion cues from Melania.

It is fair to say Zang, with this collection, increased his audience by including a more understated pared down look that a twenty something in St. Tropez could easily wear. He also added some whimsical touches such as the handkerchief skirt that Zang sketch printed on and the green diaphanous skirt that hung from the black and white dress-the Sade background music added to the sultriness of these pieces. There was still plenty of opulence including the black velvet gown with an emerald green bodice, and the silk princess coat with emerald taffeta that concluded the collection; but this presentation showed Zang is one of those designers that can expand his breadth and increase his audience. If that wasn't exciting enough, guests headed to 1046 Lexington Avenue to celebrate the opening of the new Zang Toi boutique-another notch in Zang's ever expanding empire.

Zang Takes Us On a Delightful Detour to Giverny

Story & Photo By: Lieba Nesis

Jean Shafiroff With Zang Toi

Zang Toi held his fashion show the other day at Pier 59 with a supposed starting time of 7 PM. Anyone who has participated in fashion week knows that most shows begin at least a half hour late and Zang's was no different.

What does differentiate a Zang event is that most of the attendees are in love with the man behind the label and that was readily apparent in the boisterous room. Zang entitled his collection the "Glorious Giverny Garden" and from the minute it began I was transported to the Paris of old- where croissants and couture were the reigning preoccupations. Giverny is a village in the Upper Normandy region of France and it is known as the place where painter Claude Monet lived and worked from 1883 until his death in 1926.

Zang, 55, tapped into this beauty for his collection which featured glorious music and a Parisian laissez faire that permeated the evening. Toi is a renowned Malaysian designer who has been in business for over 27 years opening his first atelier in 1989 after arriving in the United States 35 years ago with just $300 in his pocket. His warm smile and infectious enthusiasm light up every room he walks into and he has a loyal following amongst the elite of Asia.

There were numerous luminaries including Carol Alt, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Cindy Adams, Jamee Gregory, Jean Shafiroff, and Jill Zarin who all came to pay homage to the delightful Zang. The show began with a black trench dress with kimono sleeves and a beige headscarf with black flats. This combination was reiterated in the next couple of looks in beige, black and ivory accompanied by flip flops and flats. It was not until the twelfth look that we were introduced to some color in the form of a lavender skirt suit which was then followed by a black dress with lavender silk pansies bordering the top of the dress. My favorite looks of Zang are the long dramatic coats with floral embroidery on the inside and the hand encrusted gem stones that adorned the model's neck and sleeves-these ensembles were drop dead gorgeous. Moreover, the lilac and violet combinations were beautifully executed especially when combined with a kimono sleeve hand embroidered monet wisteria. Toi closed the 35-piece collection with a lilac shrug which was encrusted with hand-beaded flowers-a magnificently elegant conclusion to a wonderful springlike evening.

Gigi Hadid

E! NEWS -- Forget about the high heels. Diane von Fursteberg's fashion show is all about the dancing shoes!

While showcasing her newest collection at New York Fashion Week Sunday afternoon, the world-famous designer and House of DVF star put any and all stresses behind her when she participated in a dance party with her supermodels.

In several Instagrams posted on social media, fashion lovers can spot Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss and more having a little innocent fun on the runway.

Whether singing to Whitney Houston's "I'm Every Woman" or enjoying an impromptu disco train, these ladies had no problem showing off their looks while also moving to the beat.

What's more? Lily managed to start a conga line and Gigi led a singalong with makeup brushes serving as microphones. Not your average runway show, are we right?

After the show, the fun was only going to continue for several of the ladies. When asked how she was going to celebrate the rest of her Valentine's Day, Lily confessed she's hanging out with her girl Gigi!

"I have a Valentine's date with Gigi," she told E! News' Catt Sadler exclusively. "She's cooking dinner. She's amazing."

It's an added bonus to a busy day that Lily hopes to never forget anytime soon. "This show was amazing," she explained. "I was with my girls. It was very fun. I'm so thankful they had me."

She continued, "We like to have fun. We like to dance. It was a really special night. I have to say it was one of the most special memories because it was so different for us and it was really nice."

Luckily, there's plenty of video to capture all the moves. And yes, there's also a few selfies that are totally Instagram approved.

Story By: G. H. HARDING
Adam Levine

MAROON’S V --- Adam Levine and his Maroon 5 are on an enviable ride for sure. Just saw them on today’s Today show, tub-thumping their new album V out tomorrow; (they performed their new single “Maps” and “One More Night.”) Levine, just married, has also just begun the next cycle of his TV show The Voice (this time with Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams); and, just had his debut movie Once Again come out and he was terrific in it.

Levine and crew are just writing and producing some of the best music around right now. I’m a die-hard fan and actually became one when the group had just released their Hands All Over album (September 2010) and on it was the song “No Curtain Call” that convinced me this was a group to watch. The song was multi-layered, with a chorus that was orchestral, operatic even, to a degree and sounded just terrific.

Their performance today was pretty sensational despite some initial sound issues. Levine’s voice is astonishingly good; fluid and melodic and in his many interviews he always cites none other than Stevie Wonder as a major influence and true to his words, his voice does borrow many of Wonder’s best moves.

If I was a songwriter today, I'd go directly to the entire Maroon 5 catalog to assess what’s working and what doesn't. Terrific work for sure.

BRUCE’S RAILS --- Jack Bruce, bassist for the all-enduring power Cream returns with a new solo album, his first in 10 years, titled Silver Rails on the Esoteric Antenna record label, and, is just sensational. With the likes of Robin Trower on guitar; Phil Manzanera from Roxy Music … he weaves one of the most consistent and likable albums I've heard in years.

The album opens with a jazzy and brass laden Candlelight and features Manzanera on guitar laying down a solo that gets into the bones and suffuses the listener with warmth. The Hammond-organ in the back provides richness but the star of the song is Bruce’s vocal – unmistakable and surprisingly powerful for a love song.

Reach For The Night is a Bruce/Brown collaboration and the spoken vocals are chilling – there are images of a life passing by, speeding to an inevitable end and filled with dread at that end. Derek Nash delivers a great sax solo but again it is Bruce’s vocals and some remarkable lyrics that steal the show.

In anyone else’s hands this might be an overblown affair, all sweeping emotion and massive strings but Bruce understates the music and the result is much, much more than just another valedictory song.

The album isn't small or underplayed at any point but the album is scaled and paced perfectly to suit the song and there isn't a moment when you feel that Jack Bruce is taking the easy route – just the right one.

Jack Bruce: vital then … vital now.

HARI’S APPLE YEARS --- Still no official word yet, but a listing for George Harrison: The Apple Ltd. Years has popped up on in England, but not yet in the U. S. The early listing with no cover images shows no price in the U. K., but 74.65 euros (roughly $100 USD). The release date is shown in the Italian listing to be Sept. 23, which is about what has been previously reported. The British listing says there will be nine discs. Stay tuned.

CLOSING NOTES --- Fashion week starts Thursday here in NYC ...

The U. K.'s Kate Bush dominated the British Albums chart this week, placing two albums in the top ten, eight in the top 40 and eleven in the top 50.

The resurgence comes as she opens her residency in London, her first concerts in 35 years. The shows and the publicity surrounding them have propelled her entire catalog into the top 50.

SIGHTINGS --- Music-promo-kingpin Brad LeBeau at China Blue in Tribeca.

Jamie Hilfiger

Igal Dahan With Jamie Hilfiger

As part of LA Fashion Week, supermodel Jaimie Hilfiger ( and celebrity jewelry designer Igal Dahan of i.d x-change were among the red-carpet guests who attended a champagne brunch at The Cedars, the historic Hollywood estate of designer Sue Wong, to preview Ms. Wong’s “My Fair Lady” 2011 Collection in Los Angeles on Friday.

Although Jaimie had been leaving behind a trail of red-carpet smoke in a jaw-dropping black and silver Sue Wong cocktail dress at fashion parties earlier in the week, for the main event she traded the vintage vamp look to create an ethereal air when she arrived in a sumptuous, 1920s-inspired cocktail dress. The dress from Ms. Wong’s “My Fair Lady” 2011 collection was painted in a hue of rosebud pink and trimmed with an intricate palette of tiny dove grey and pearl teardrop beads. Jaimie paired the dress with matching Cuffs of Love™ bracelets by i.d x-change.

“I chose the rosebud dress in keeping with the ‘My Fair Lady’ theme of the show and the champagne brunch,” Jaimie said. “I wear Sue Wong because she’s a master of capturing beauty and truly has the power to transform women into goddesses through the magic of her dresses.”

Jaimie and i.d x-change designer Igal Dahan shared the carpet with other guests including Yari De Leon (The Lincoln Lawyer), Tippi Hedron (The Birds), Kate Linder (The Young and the Restless), Natalie Getz and Michelle Money (The Bachelor), Gina Golden (Saw III: The Final Chapter), Romi Dames (Hannah Montana), Jillian Rose Reed (Weeds), Bridget Marquardt (The Girls Next Door) and Vanessa Bell Calloway (Coming to America).

After the red carpet, the champagne flowed freely, photographers were snapping Sue Wong’s models dressed in cocktail and evening gowns and guests mingled at Ms. Wong’s glamorous, old-Hollywood, Italian villa that, over the years, was formerly the home of silent-screen icon Norma Talmadge, Dennis Hopper, Howard Hughes, Jimi Hendriks and Johnny Depp.
