Paris Hilton's longterm representative Elliot Mintz has confirmed he's parted ways with the socialite, just two days after she was sentenced to a jail term for violating her probation.Hilton, 26, will spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty of violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license in court on Friday. At her hearing, Hilton told Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that Mintz had repeatedly informed her that her license had been suspended for only 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters. Mintz accepts he was partially responsible for the strict sentence through misinformation, and he's left her employment over the error. He tells People magazine, "The day after the hearing, I sent Paris an email expressing my sadness over the ruling of the judge and the irrational sentence he imposed. "In that email (to Paris) I also offered my sincerest apology for any misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation. To the extent that I have mis-communicated information I received from her attorneys... I am deeply and profoundly sorry. "I told her that I assume personal responsibility for my part in this matter. "I believe when Paris stated in court that she believed it was OK for her to drive under certain circumstances she was being absolutely truthful. Due to this misunderstanding, I am no longer representing Paris." Mintz adds he bears no ill will toward his client, despite rumors he didn't quit of his own accord but was sacked by Hilton. He says, "For the record, I have nothing but love and respect for Paris and her family. Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court. I only wish her my best."Meanwhile, Hilton says about her sentence, "I told the truth ... I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwanted and I don't deserve this." Hilton will begin her jail stint at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles County on June 5.
Paris Hilton could go to jail after violating her probation.The hotel heiress faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in prison if she is found guilty of driving while her license was suspended. Paris pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was placed on 36 months probation in January.Paris was then stopped by police on February 27 for driving without her headlights on - and discovered by officers to be driving with a suspended license.The 26-year-old star insisted she was unaware her license was suspended and she was in violation of her probation.Her spokesman Elliot Mintz said: "When Paris called me after she was pulled over, she asked if her license was suspended. If that's the case, she and I are unaware of it."However, Los Angeles' City Attorney's Office says it has evidence proving Paris was aware of her suspension. Spokesman Nick Velasquez said the other day, "We have sufficient evidence to prove that Hilton had knowledge of the suspension, and yet continued to drive."A hearing has been set for April 17, but Paris is not required to attend.
