George Hamilton

In the Hollywood of the early ’60s, young George Hamilton was in the right place at the right time. “The studios told me: ‘Date all the girls you can — just make sure they are under contract with us.’ I asked to see their roster!” George jokes with Closer in an exclusive interview.

George dated many of the era’s most sought-after beauties, including the beloved Elizabeth Taylor. In the new issue of Closer Weekly he opens up about their relationship more than ever before.

“Elizabeth was a unique human being,” George reminisces with Closer. “She was one of a kind. She could stay up all night and play cards with you or get on a plane and go anywhere. She was fun. She was bigger than life.”

Elizabeth Taylor

Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor has died at age 79. Taylor died today in Los Angeles, California where she had been treated in a hospital for congestive heart failure. Elizabeth Taylor rose to stardom as a teen, in huge roles like National Velvet, and went on to have a very long and very impressive movie career. Taylor starred in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and as a call girl in Butterfield 8,which won her the first of her two Oscars. Her famed love affair with Richard Burton and her ability to overcome numerous tragedies, including the death of another husband Mike Todd. In her later years, Taylor once again reinvented herself as a tireless and passionate philanthropist, who could raise millions for AIDS-related causes and eventually formed her own charity, the Elizabeth Taylor Foundation. Taylor passed away today in a hospital in Los Angeles, where she had been treated for congestive heart failure, her publicist Sally Morrison said. "All her children were with her,".

Editors Note: When Elizabeth Taylor came to town, the world knew it. I remember years ago when she came to fetes in New York City often, it was like a presidential event. Everyone in the media would be there and everyone would be fighting for a shot of the legend we call Liz. Always surrounded by Agents, publicists, assistants, make up artists and a whole entourage, I always wondered how Liz handled all these people pulling at her, but she did and with class. Photographing Liz was like photographing the Queen. There was protocol. You needed clearance and you had to abide by the rules. You always had to be ready to get the shot, because you never knew how long the photo-op would be. It could be 2 minutes or half a hour, you never knew. All you knew was if you got a great photograph, you could sell it across the world. Liz would joke with the press as she posed and she always looked stunning. Elizabeth Taylor brought the suffering of people with AIDS to the world and raised so much money for AIDS charities. She did it at a time when the world did not understand the illness, and she educated us all. I think the best memories I have photographing Liz, was her class. She had that old time Hollywood style. She treated the media with smiles and professionalism that is so hard to find these days. Elizabeth Taylor was our American royalty. She was our Queen!

Elizabeth Taylor

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is speaking out at Michael Jackson's former dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein for alleging her late friend was secretly gay.Klein opened up about Jackson's alleged romance with his office manager Jason Pfeiffer, calling his employee the love of the late pop star's life in a television interview last month. The skin doctor was then subjected to a mountain of criticism for betraying his late patients trust as Jackson family members and friends of the King of Pop scrambled to refute the claims, while angry fans have bombarded the couple with death threats. Taylor is now blasting Klein, a doctor she once shared with Jackson, for coming forward with the wild claims. The Hollywood legend ranted on her page, she wrote: "Dr. Arnie Klein declared on May 2 that he did not betray Michael Jackson by saying publicly that he had a homosexual relationship with someone in 'Arnie's' office. It seems he supplies not only women (Debbie Rowe), but men too ... how convenient." Just what we want in our doctors. And then to say he did not betray Michael's confidence. No wonder he has death threats. ... I thought doctors, like priests took an oath of confidentiality. May God have mercy on his soul." Debbie Rowe, a former assistant to Klein, is Jackson's ex-wife and the mother of his two eldest children, Paris and Prince Michael.

This finally happened Ten weeks after his death. Jackson passed away at his Holmby Hills home on June 25th. The Jackson family eventually decided to inter the singer at the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park last night. The beloved star’s family and friends came together one more time to pay their last respects. Jackson’s family, including his mother Katherine and father Joe, his siblings, and his three children Prince Michael, Paris, and Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, were driven to the memorial park in a fleet of Rolls Royce limousines, arriving over an hour late for the 7pm start. Jackson's close friends including Macaulay Culkin and his girlfriend Mila Kunis, actor Chris Tucker, and Elizabeth Taylor attended the outdoor ceremony, which saw around 200 guests seated on white chairs on the lawns outside the crypt and signing a book of condolence for the fallen singer. Taylor was left devastated by her close friend’s death and refused to attend his public memorial service because she didn’t want to be part of the "hoopla," but agreed to attend the private ceremony yesterday. Jackson’s ex-wife Presley also turned out for her late former husband. Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight were both reportedly asked to sing at the tribute, ahead of Jackson’s $30,000 gold casket being lowered into a concrete burial pit close to stars including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and his idol Walt Disney. Security was very tight at the service, with police setting up a wide perimeter around the park to stop fans getting anywhere near the closed ceremony. Helicopters with thermal imaging devices also circled overhead to detect any unwanted intruders. Two fans reportedly attempted to gatecrash the event in the hours leading up to the service, but they were swiftly apprehended by security guards and then removed by police, according to Sky News.

Elizabeth Taylor wants to star in the new 'Sunset Boulevard' movie. The double Oscar-winning actress would love to take on the role of femme fatale Norma Desmond in the musical remake, which will be based on Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit stage adaptation. Elizabeth said: "'Sunset Boulevard' is the kind of vehicle that could suit me now."However, the 'Cleopatra' star admits she may struggle with the part because she isn't convinced about her singing ability. She added: "I'm not sure about the singing."The original 1950 movie saw Gloria Swanson take on the role of Norma, an ageing former silent movie star who snares a young male admirer and persuades him to help her make a triumphant Hollywood comeback. Elizabeth - who celebrated her 75th birthday in February - remembers the days when stars were making the transition from silent film to speaking roles. She is quoted by Britain's Daily Express newspaper as saying: "When I first got to Hollywood, I remember there were still lots of old silent actors looking for work. They, like Norma, had great difficulty making the transition from silent film to sound."My studio, MGM, was kinder than most and gave extra work to the likes of silent film actresses including Mae Marsh and Blanche Sweet."Other actresses linked to the role of Norma include Meryl Streep, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand.
