Justin Bieber

E! NEWS -- Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are keeping the lines of communication open, E! News has learned, after learning that the two are taking some time apart.

The two rekindled their romance last fall, three years after their much-publicized breakup that had followed an on and off three-year relationship. Multiple sources told E! News last week that they have been spending time away from each other.

"They are still in contact and talking," another source told E! News exclusively on Thursday. "They have cooled off on being together all the time and making it a big serious thing.

Selena Gomez

"They had several disagreements on their lifestyle and how to handle their relationship in the public eye," the source said. "She really wants to keep things low key and out of the spotlight. Selena has been spending time with her family and her girlfriends. She is still going to church and keeping the lines open with Justin though. This is a more reset and a step back to reevaluate what's going on and what direction they want to go in."

Inside Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's Rekindled Relationship

Earlier this month, Bieber celebrated his 24th birthday with friends and Gomez was not spotted.

"She's on a break with Justin, partly because of family pressure but also because of some issues surrounding his birthday," another source told E! News earlier this week. "She wanted to have a quiet birthday celebration with Justin and he wanted to go big and involve all of his church friends."

The source told E! News that the pair is "still in contact" and this break is "likely not the end.”

Meghan Markle

E! NEWS -- Meghan Markle is creating a unique spot for herself within the royal family.

With only two months remaining until Prince Harry marries the American actress, there's no doubt Meghan is in full-on prep mode as she prepares to bid civilian life farewell. Today marked her first official appearance alongside Queen Elizabeth II, a major step for someone that just two years ago had not officially met her future husband yet.

Grant Harrold, "The Royal Butler" who is known as Britain's etiquette expert and former royal butler to Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as well as Prince William and Prince Harry, spoke to E! News exclusively about Meghan's "modern approach" to royalty, what she can still learn from etiquette protocol and the similarities he sees between her and the late Princess Diana.

Harrold, who worked with the royal family for seven years up until 2011, says he was reminded of Princess Diana when Markle stopped to embrace a young schoolgirl during a recent engagement with Harry.

He describes Meghan's gesture as "really, really sweet," but adds it's not "normally" something the Queen would do. "It's something younger people do," Harrold explains, later continuing, "She's got her own way of doing things... You look at the energy of Princess Diana and she was very much somebody that would hug people. She was famous for it, wasn't she?"

At the peak of Princess Diana's global reach, Harrold says, "None of the rest of the royal family hugged. It just wasn't the done thing. Now the younger royals, Princes William and Harry, you see them hugging... So it's their way of doing it. They are very much copying what their mother did, which is fantastic."

Hugging commoners aside, Harrold believes she'll have to give up two very important aspects of the celebrity lifestyle—autographs and selfies. He predicts Meghan will "definitely [be] discouraged" from signing photos of herself for fans and notes that posing for photographs is "obviously a big thing" that royals stray away from.

He explains, "She has to be careful what she says, how she says it, and how it's taken because after the 19th of May, it will be very much the reflection of the royal family. It's every day things—from the way she walks, the way she speaks, the things she does, how she eats, how she holds her cup, how she dresses—everything will be looked at the right way or the wrong way... There will be a lot for her to adapt to."

And unlike Kate Middleton, who grew up in England, Harrold says that coming from the United States puts Meghan at somewhat of a disadvantage.

"It's a different way of life," he remarks, "a different culture, completely different upbringing. So it's probably more difficult that she's got to learn not just about how to be a royal, but also learn the British way of life." But "what's great" for the former Suits star, Harrold adds, is that "she's got a wonderful sister-in-law who she can speak to, follow her lead and watch how she does it."

Additionally, Harrold says she's learning etiquette and protocol "from within," and the royal family has made it "very easy for her to just ask the question as she goes along."

After marrying Prince Harry, he tells E! News Meghan will have the opportunity to "create the rules" regarding etiquette. "They do things how they want to adapt them," Harrold explains. "If it's something she does and if the rest of the family lets her do it, it becomes the done thing and that's it."

Speaking to Prince Harry and Meghan's relationship, Harrold says it makes "complete sense" that the pair found each other. Describing Meghan as "very caring" with a "lovely personality" and passion for charity, he predicts Prince Harry "recognized" many of his own attributes within her.

"Not to mention she's a very pretty girl, and again when two people meet and fall in love who's to say? it's very much a personal thing. As far as the actual personalities go, I think it was a matched made in heaven," Harrold shares.

Justin Bieber

Time...out. After rekindling their past romance in November, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are taking some time apart, multiple sources tell E! News.

A source tells E! News that Justin and Selena are giving each other some space right now, but are still talking all the time. It appears as if the two are down, but not out.

The insider said, "They were having a lot of little disagreements recently and one fight in particular blew up and caused them to decide to 'break up,' however, they've been in contact the entire time and their feelings for each other have not changed."

The source added, "They will absolutely get back together and they are not over, but they both need some time away from each other."

Since they on-and-off pair got back together late last year, they've gone on trips together to Mexico, Jamaica, Seattle and Laguna Beach.

Another source tells E! News that Selena, who is currently in New York, hasn't seen Justin since the day before his birthday, which was March 1.

Similarly, an additional source confirms the two have been "having issues" in their newly rekindled romance, which the world .

"They both have expressed that they have been feeling overwhelmed with a lot of pressure that has come with their public relationship, and haven't been seeing eye to eye on things," said the insider.

The source tells E! News that Selena has been trying to "mend" things with her mother Mandy Teefey and the fact that she's reportedly not happy" about her daughter's reconciled relationship has been a continued struggle for the "Wolves" singer.

The source adds, "Things are not amazing between them."

Perhaps all they need is some space?

Hoda Kotb

E! NEWS -- No one is happier for Hoda Kotb's career advancement than Matt Lauer.

Hours ago, Kotb was named Lauer's successor as co-anchor of Today. She will join Savannah Guthrie for two hours a day, starting at 7 a.m., and will continue to clink wine glasses with Kathie Lee Gifford in the fourth hour. E! News spoke to Kotb in between segments Tuesday, where she revealed Lauer was among those who privately congratulated her on the promotion.

"He was sweet this morning. Certain texts popped up, and there was one from Matt: 'Congratulations!'" said Kotb, who joined Today a decade ago. "And he said some nice words."

Lauer has stayed out of the public eye since he was fired from NBC News in November amid allegations of sexual misconduct. A staple on Today since the '90s, he was "embarrassed" after coming clean. "There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions," Lauer said, in part. "To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry..."

"It meant the world to me to hear from him," Kotb told E! News Tuesday. "It was really nice."

Lauer has not publicly congratulated Kotb, but many of her colleagues—including Jenna Bush Hager, Carson Daly, Sheinelle Jones, Megyn Kelly and Al Roker—have done so via social media.

Lauer's abrupt exit didn't just surprise viewers—it surprised Guthrie, Kotb and many of their colleagues. "Matt is really focused on his family, and I think that's where his heart is and that's where it should be," Guthrie told E! News. "We've kept in touch and we've all been reaching out, and, you know...I don't think there's anyone who would be more thrilled than Matt to see Hoda in this role. He adores Hoda and he knows how good she is and so I know that to be true."

Kotb has been by Guthrie's side ever since Lauer left.

"Over the past several weeks, Hoda has seamlessly stepped into the co-anchor role alongside Savannah, and the two have quickly hit the ground running. They have an undeniable connection with each other and most importantly, with viewers, a hallmark of Today," NBC News Chairman Andy Lack said in a staff email Tuesday, just before Today aired. "Hoda is, in a word, remarkable. She has the rare ability to share authentic and heartfelt moments in even the most difficult news circumstances. It's a tribute to her wide range and her innate curiosity."

Guthrie added that it's a "dream" to permanently share her anchoring duties with Kotb. "The job can be intense, and you want a partner who has your back," the journalist explained to E! News. Moreover, "The fact that we are two women seems just right with where our culture is."

Jennifer Garner

E! NEWS -- Ben Affleck and ex Jennifer Garner are continuing to co-parent their three children and spent Christmas together as a family.

The actors, parents of daughters Violet, 12, and Seraphina, 8, and son Samuel, 5, had announced in 2015 they had made the "difficult decision to divorce" following 10 years of marriage. Both Affleck and Garner filed divorce papers this past April. Since their initial split, they have made it a priority to co-parent their kids and have often spent time all together as a family, celebrating multiple holidays and taking trips.

"Ben and Jen spent Christmas together with friends and family," a source told E! News exclusively on Wednesday. "They were in Montana. They spent the weekend together, and the family had a great time."

"Ben is continuing to work hard on himself, and is taking many different steps that will allow him to be the best father possible," the source said, adding that the actor is in "continual aftercare."

In March, Affleck revealed he had "completed treatment for alcohol addiction." In July, the actor exited the movie Triple Frontier to "take some time to focus on his wellness and his family." He continued outpatient treatment. In November, an insider told E! News that Affleck "a place right now where he is very committed and wants to see this through."

Both Garner and Affleck's girlfriend and SNL producer Lindsay Shookus, who he has been dating for several months, have supported the actor amid his journey to recovery.

The actor and Shookus were spotted on a dinner date at Nobu in Malibu on Tuesday.

"Ben and Lindsay are happy where things are and really enjoy each other's company," the source said on Wednesday.

Justin Bieber

E! NEWS -- Justin Bieber's Family Thinks Selena Gomez Is a "Positive Influence"

Justin Bieber's mom and dad totally approve of Selena Gomez.

As the pop music superstars continue to give their romance another chance, some fans have wondered what Pattie Mallette and Jeremy Bieber think of their son's leading lady.

According to multiple sources, they are totally fans of the "Come and Get It" singer.

"His parents love Selena. That want him to date someone and think she is very sweet and a good girl," one source shared with E! News exclusively. "They are happy with how Justin is doing and his focus. They support him going to church often and having his faith being such a big part of his life."

The insider continued, "They think that being back together with Selena is a positive thing. He wants to do things differently and make it right and show everyone how far he has come."

In fact, we're told Justin's mom has always liked Selena and knows how happy she makes her son.

"She thinks she's a positive influence in his life. Justin has been a lot more motivated since they've rekindled," another source shared. "Justin has a very close relationship with his mother and wouldn't pursue a relationship with someone that his mom didn't like."

So is the feeling mutual when it comes to Selena's immediate family? Last month, a source shared with E! News that her family "is still getting comfortable with the idea of them back together."

Ultimately, there's no denying the special bond these two have continued to maintain after all these years. Whether enjoying date night at church or simply riding bikes together, this pair may just be proving that young love never dies.

As for an official Instagram photo together, we're still waiting on that one. Perhaps they can count on Pattie and Jeremy for a "like."

Meghan Markle

E! NEWS -- Meghan Markle's future with Suits may be up in the air, but her future, living in her Toronto apartment is definitely coming to an end.

The actress, who is dating England's Prince Harry, wrapped her seventh (and possibly final) season of the USA show, which is filmed in Toronto, Canada, and is officially moving house.

A source confirms to E! News that on Tuesday movers were packing and removing all of Meghan's things out of her Annex apartment.

The source also added that, for now, many of Markle's things will be going into storage, while others are being shipped to London, where she was spotted Christmas shopping on Tuesday.

The moving news has lead to even more speculation that the Canadian-living American actress is gearing up for a big move across the pond to live in London, the same city as her royal beau, so that the two can get engaged.

Rumors of an imminent engagement have been swirling ever since the duo made their first joint appearance at the Invictus Games on Sept. 25.

Last week, E! News reported that Markle's presence on the eighth season of USA drama was still unknown but that both Markle and Patrick J. Adams were looking to exit the long-running series.

As for Markle, who's starred as paralegal-turned-lawyer (and Adams' on-screen fiancee) Rachel Zane since the show's beginning, chatter over her possible departure from the legal show has run rampant since Buckingham Palace confirmed the actress and philanthropist was dating Prince Harry.

Per THR, the duo was spotted filming a wedding scene earlier this month in Toronto, adding fuel to the raging fire that their onscreen love story is coming to its close.

Reps for USA, Adams and Markle all declined to comment on the show's casting.

Selena Gomez

E! News  -- Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez continue to spent time together, fueling rumors of a possible romantic reconciliation following her breakup with The Weeknd.

The two were photographed at Morton's Steakhouse on Friday. They had a late dinner there. The restaurant closed at 10 p.m. but stayed open almost two hours after closing time just for them, a source told E! News.

Justin, 23, and Selena, 25, have spent quite a lot of time together since E! News confirmed on October 30 that Selena and The Weeknd had split after dating for at least 10 months.

So is Selena back with Justin?

The two have not commented on the nature of their relationship. However, another source told E! News on Saturday that while they're not "official" or fully back together, "they are more together now than they were a year ago."

"Her family and friends just don't want Selena to be with the immature and foolish Justin they know," the source added. "He's trying to change and be a better guy. We'll see what happens...Justin is changing but it's a process. He's trying."

Earlier this week, another insider told E! News that "Justin and Selena are seeing each other and will continue to be spending time together but haven't described it as an official couple. Right now, they are figuring out if it will work again between the two."

And a jail sentence when he reached a plea deal, pleading guilty to reduced charges of misdemeanor careless driving and resisting arrest. In a separate incident, he was charged with misdemeanor vandalism for pelting a neighbor's home with eggs. He got probation and paid the neighbors $80,000.
Also in 2014, video footage of him urinating in a bucket while cursing out former President Bill Clinton went viral. Bieber later apologized.

Justin Bieber

E-NEWS -- When Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were spotted hanging out last week, we were told The Weeknd was fine with it...but apparently things have changed.

As we confirmed earlier today, Gomez and The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) decided to split sometime last week, and while we're told Bieber was "no factor" in their breakup, a source tells us the "Starboy" singer isn't stoked to see them spending so much time together.

Not only was Bieber photographed hanging out at Gomez's house last weekend, they were also spotted enjoying breakfast at JOi Cafe in Westlake Village, Calif., on Sunday—just a few days after Gomez and The Weeknd called it quits.

Now, a source tells E! News, "Abel is upset about Selena hanging out with Justin, especially twice in the same week."

Still, we're told Gomez and Bieber are just friends.

"Selena and Justin have reconnected because they have gone through similar stuff in the past couple years with being physically and mentally exhausted from touring and just dealing with the anxiety and pressure of growing up in the public eye," another source told us. "They have always had a strong connection, and they are leaning on each other as friends. They are both there for each other to talk and support one another."

Though there's nothing romantic going on between them right now, our insider adds things could "change at any moment."

As you know, Gomez and Bieber dated for three years before splitting up in 2014, continuing their on-and-off relationship for a few years until Gomez started seeing The Weeknd in January.

However, after Gomez had surgery for a kidney transplant in her continued battle against Lupus, the exes reconnected.

"They both have a long history with each other so they will always have a place in their heart for one another," another source explained of their reunion last week.

As for Gomez and The Weeknd, their split was a longtime coming and had nothing to do with Bieber. In fact, they began having conversations about the future of their relationship over the summer.

"It's been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it's been hard for months," an insider said in confirming their split. "They are still talking and will remain friends. They have been very grown-up about it."

Harvey Weinstein With Wife Georgina Chapman

Harvey Weinstein is receiving both inpatient and outpatient treatment amid the numerous sexual assault and harassment allegations against him, E! News has learned.

A spokesperson for the producer confirmed the news to E! News on Saturday, following recent reports that he was seeking treatment.

"Mr. Weinstein is receiving inpatient as well as outpatient medical treatment for the next month or so," the spokesperson said.

No further details were given and the producer's whereabouts were not made known.

Over the past couple of week, at least 50 women have accused the produce of sexual misconduct and six of them, including Rose McGowan and Italian star and xXx cast member Asia Argento, say he raped her. Weinstein has apologized for past treatment of colleagues but denies allegations of non-consensual sex.

Police in Los Angeles, New York and London are investigating several sexual misconduct allegations. Weinstein has not been charged with a crime. The controversy has cost his him job, his marriage and many of his honors.

Last week, after reports say Weinstein was headed to rehab, paparazzi encountered him outside the Los Angeles home of one of his daughters.

"I'm hanging in, I'm trying my best," he said at the time. "Guys, I'm not doing OK but I'm trying."

"I gotta get help, guys," he said, as seen in a video posted on TMZ. "You know what, we all make mistakes, second chance I hope."

A day later, Weinstein was spotted in Arizona, dining with friends.

On Friday, a source told E! News that the producer was still in the state and "going to an outpatient center during the day" and staying at a hotel, adding, "He isn't taking things seriously at all and is more concerned about business and his next moves. He is just going through the motions with counseling and doesn't seem concerned at all about what's to come."

Weinstein has not commented.

TMZ reported that day that Weinstein had completed a one-week outpatient program to treat psychological issues and was leaving the state.

News of Weinstein undergoing inpatient treatment also comes a week after TMZ reported that authorities responded to a 911 call made by his daughter Remy to "say her dad was suicidal." Police told E! News they had arrived at the house in response to a "family disturbance" but could not confirm the call was about Weinstein.

A friend of Weinstein told Page Six that the producer is not suicidal, but "his heart is breaking for his kids."

Avril Lavigne

E! NEWS -- Things are on the up and up for Avril Lavigne.

Now more than two years after the pop rock singer went public with her Lyme disease diagnosis, a source tells E! News exclusively her health, music career and personal life is taking a turn for the better.

"Avril is in a really good place right now," our insider shares. "Her recovery has been going well and she's been getting stronger and stronger. She has more energy and has even been exercising."

The chronic condition left Lavigne, 32, bedridden for five months and sidelined her professional endeavors up until last December when she announced her sixth studio album. And good news, Avril fans! It appears new music from the "Complicated" singer (who recently moved into a new Los Angeles home) is closer than ever.

"She should be releasing new music by the end of the year," the source reveals. "It's been a slow process."

So what can music lovers expect from Lavigne now that her "Sk8r Boi" days are over? We're told the Canadian star drew inspiration from personal experiences related to Lyme disease and her 2015 divorce from Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

"She writes her own material and she's been through a lot with her marriage and her illness," the source explains. "She has a lot to say."

There's also a new man in Avril's life, who E! News has learned is music producer J.R. Rotem. The Israeli-American insider and Lavigne were photographed holding hands while out in Los Angeles Monday evening, and according to our source, things are moving toward a romantic relationship.

"J.R. is a producer she's been working with," the source says, describing the Israeli-American music man as successful and sober. "He's respected in the industry. Lately, they've started hanging out socially and there's definitely chemistry there. They're both so passionate about music."

The insider says of the friends, "They've been out a few times now and things seem to be headed in a romantic direction."

Lavigne was last linked to Ryan Cabreraafter the pair was spotted getting cozy on a dinner date and it was revealed that the singer-songwriter was living with her following a separate breakup.

Are you excited to see what's to come for Avril's future? Sound off in the comments! —Reporting by Beth Sobol

Chateau Marmont

E! NEWS -- At the very top of a hill, nestled in among perfectly manicured trees and rising above the billboards and neon signs of the Sunset Strip lies a castle with a very storied history. The Chateau Marmont has graced the skyline of Los Angeles since the early 1920's, when it was built as the city's first earthquake-proof apartment building. Not more than 10 years later the hotel as we know it was founded. The building was destined for star-crossed glamour; it was modeled after a Chateau in the Loire Valley that is believed to be Leonardo Da Vinci's final resting place. Almost as soon as it opened, celebrities began flocking to its hallowed halls.

To wander the Chateau's grounds is to step into an alternate world. Tourists toting rolling luggage breathe the same air as Hollywood's biggest A-listers. The only edible items on the menu are the burger and fries, yet everyone is impossibly skinny. The pool is the center of it all, yet even on the most sweltering of days it barely feels a ripple. It's not the fanciest hotel in the city or even the neighborhood, yet multi-millionaires flock to it. The aging aesthetic only adds to its charm—and the temptation to let out one's seedier side.

As long as stars have stayed at the Chateau they've caused trouble at the Chateau. It began in the 1930's during the height of the studio system—Greta Garbo was one of its first famous partiers. Its many tales of scandal are practically Hollywood lore by now, and must be treated as such: Rumors that have persisted for so long they feel like fact. (Modern stories, of course, are far easier to corroborate). It's said that in the 1950's James Dean jumped through a bungalow window to audition for Rebel Without a Cause, only to find the movie's director having an affair with actress Natalie Wood. Jim Morrison of The Doors has jumped off the roof, or maybe the terrace, while in an altered state. John Belushi died of a cocaine and heroin overdose. The famed fashion photographer Helmut Newton died after crashing his car on his way out of the hotel's driveway in 2004.

But it was in the mid-2000's when the real drama started.

Lindsay Lohan is typically the first star to come to mind when the words "Chateau Marmont" are uttered. She was a familiar face there for years, using the hotel to take magazine interviews or dine and drink with friends. In 2005 and 2006 she lived in one of the bungalows, reportedly spending up to $1 million on the nightly fees—or, rather, it's more accurate to say her stuff lived there, as she was rarely seen on the premises during that period. During a 2007 rehab stint at Promises in Malibu, she spent furloughs from the facility dining on the hotel's patio with friends. Those were perhaps her calmest days at the hotel. It's impossible to detail every fascinating thing that went down, so we'll stick to the highlights.

While the actress was living in her bungalow (the first time around), meant to be filming Georgia Rule with Jane Fonda, her constant partying habits and subsequent late (or non-existent) arrivals to set caused the movie's producer to send a personal letter to her room at the Chateau, in which he called her a "spoiled child" among other things. The property's privacy faltered a bit, as the letter was leaked to the press immediately after it was delivered.

Lindsay went back for a long-term stay in 2012 and went a little, well, overboard, to the tune of $46,000. She was eventually banned from the property for failing to pay any of her hotel charges, and of course the itemized list of her many expenditures wound up leaking to the press. The cost of the actual room was quite hefty, but she also spent $686 on cigarettes (that's 49 packs in 47 days), $625 on laundry services, and over $3,000 on her room's minibar. She had a single day's meal that totaled $1,400 at the restaurant and once spent over $680 on room service.

According to the letter that the hotel sent to Lohan, they tried to request payment from her several times to no avail. The actress reportedly was under the impression that the producers of her Lifetime movie Liz & Dick, which she was filming at the time, were going to cover her lavish stay, but that didn't stop the Chateau from giving her the boot. Rumor has it that a few months later she placed a call to the hotel's owner himself to apologize and she's been off the blacklist ever since.

Around the same time that Lindsay was making a name for herself around the Sunset Strip's hallowed grounds, another famous young star was stirring up trouble at the hotel: One Britney Spears. Most of her appearances involved run-of-the-mill parties and late-night drinks or burger runs, but in September, 2007 things went south quickly. The singer was in the midst of what we now know was a total breakdown, but at the time her bizarre behavior was still a mystery to most. On one fateful night her increasingly outrageous appearances at the Chateau got her banned for good.

It all started when she rolled up to the property's famous restaurant looking completely out of it. According to eyewitnesses, guest began to whisper about whether she was okay, and she then proceeded to run into Victoria Beckham without even recognizing her. If giving the cold shoulder to Posh wasn't enough, she then began to smear her face with a plateful of gourmet food. The other diners quickly complained and the hotel's staff rushed her out to avoid any further disturbances, but the whole fiasco landed her on the blacklist.

So what is it about the Chateau Marmont that makes it so easy to misbehave? The trouble seems to be by design. The rooms, once fully-outfitted homes in the long-ago apartment building, retain kitchens and sitting areas that beg for long-term (albeit highly-priced) stays. The entrance is off the main drag of Sunset Boulevard, making late night comings-and-goings more hidden from the glare of the paparazzi lens. It's an old Gothic building with walls thick enough to muffle any revelry. And the staff is famously discrete and dedicated to respecting the privacy of its inhabitants; they've even been known to ban non-famous guests for blabbing on bad behavior. Treat them right and they'll keep your dirty secrets as long as possible.

Which means that for all the stories that have leaked to the press, all the paparazzi pictures of actors stumbling out of the bar at all hours of the night, there are dozens more that never made it to the public. If those walls could talk.

Ben Affleck

E! NEWS -- Ben Affleck has a new lady in his life, E! News has learned.

The Oscar-winning actor is dating Lindsay Shookus, a producer at Saturday Night Live.

A source tells us that the two are still very much "in the early stages" of their relationship and recently met up while he was in London for work. We're told that the duo caught a showing of Sam Mendes' play Ferryman last week during their trip abroad.

"It's more than a summer fling," the insider shared. "They are having fun and care for each other. It's early and they are taking it slow."

And while the new couple has done their best to keep things under wraps in the beginning stages of their romance, the two stepped out on the town in Los Angeles Thursday night for a quick date night.

Back in April of this year, Jennifer Garner and Ben filed for divorce nearly two years after announcing that they were separating following 10 years of marriage.

According to court documents, the friendly exes filed for joint legal and physical custody of their children.

A source at the time told E! News that the two "were co-parenting" and that the "most important thing in all of this are their kids."

Both Ben and Jen have publically praised one another since announcing that they were splitting.

In fact, in an interview with us, the father of three gushed, "Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I'm really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that's what we do."

Meanwhile, Jen told NBC's Today show, "We are definitely a modern family. We're doing really well."

Just days ago, the entire modern family was spotted celebrating the Fourth of July near their home in Los Angeles.

Jen participated in a neighborhood 3K race while her kids and ex smiled and cheered from the sidelines.

Shortly thereafter, the group enjoyed celebrating with their neighbors and taking in the local fireworks show.

Kylie Jenner

E! NEWS -- It's getting hard for Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner to keep up with their parents' ongoing feud.

As the drama surrounding Caitlyn Jenner's new memoir, The Secrets of My Life, continues to divide the Kardashian family and play out on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a source tells E! News exclusively Jenner's own daughters have grown distance from the transgender Olympian.

Our insider describes Kendall's relationship with Jenner as "very strained," revealing that the 21-year-old supermodel "rarely speaks" to her father. The source adds, "Kendall is loyal to Kris[Jenner] and has very little to do with her dad. The more time that has passed, the more she feels Caitlyn has let her down with the things she has said and with her actions."

Meanwhile, E! News has learned that Kylie is still in contact with Caitlyn, but has found herself at odds with loved ones that continue to defend Kris.

The source insists, "Kylie has really made an effort not to take sides and to be supportive of Caitlyn. She really wants to have a relationship with her dad, but Caitlyn has hurt Kris tremendously and it's made it very difficult."

Kendall Jenner

"With everyone in the family on Kris' side, it's hard on Kylie," the source continues. "She tries to keep it separate and doesn't want to discuss it with the rest of the family."

And despite the makeup mogul attempting to keep the peace, not having a solid bond with their dad has impacted both Kendall and Kylie negatively. "Both girls really struggle with not being close to Caitlyn," our source says. "It's left a big void in their lives to not have the father they grew up with. She was a part of their lives every single day."

Caitlyn has spoken openly about the backlash she's felt from her estranged ex-wife and stepdaughters, admitting on Australia's Today show that she hasn't spoken to Kim Kardashianin a "long time."

"I love Kimberly, I think she's a wonderful person," the 67-year-old admitted. "But, well, to be honest with you, I really haven't talked to her in a long time. I've kind of let everything calm down. So I kind of stay, you know, I keep my distance."

She continued, "I'm out there trying to make a difference in the world. There's a lot of drama in the Kardashian family. This is my book about my opinions on things that had happened with me and my family. Any time I express my opinion, you know, with my family, there's always challenges in doing that."

Jenner also expressed hope that her inner circle's wounds would one day heal, telling The Talk co-hosts, "[Kris and I are] not talking as much as we used to, but I'm sure that'll change when everything calms down.""

"I miss everybody," she shared. "My house is open. My relationship with some of the kids is better and with others, it's maybe a little more strained. But I think as time goes on, that'll change."

In 2015, Caitlyn first publicly revealed her intent to live as a transgender woman in a 20/20interview with Diane Sawyer.

Brad Pitt

E! NEWS -- When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie boarded a flight from Nice to Los Angeles last September, neither of them could have realized the trip would mark the beginning of one of the nastiest splits in Hollywood history.

We now know the fated journey, during which Brad got into a disagreement with his 15-year-old son Maddox, would lead to an explosive FBI investigation into what really happened on the plane.

Less than a year earlier the couple had posed together on the red carpet while promoting their latest movie together, By the Sea—ironically a film about the breakdown of a marriage. Despite the depressing subject matter, Brad and Angelina acted like two people deeply in love as they held hands and looked adoringly into one another's eyes while photographers joyfully snapped away.

Their romance had a rocky beginning, due to the perceived overlap with Brad's previous marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Yet it didn't take long for Brangelina to become the hottest couple in Hollywood. During their 11 years together, Angelina transformed from the "other woman" into a regal world-class humanitarian and director, while Brad managed to shed any doubt over whether he should have stayed with his first wife by becoming a doting father to six incredible children.

To describe them as "head over heels" during their happiest moments would be an understatement. As a source, who socialized with them on a number of occasions before their split, explained to me, "I've never spent time with two people more intoxicated with one another. The chemistry when they were in the same room together was palpable."

But then, seven months ago, it all fell apart. As they traveled from France to the U.S., they stopped in Minnesota to refuel, setting off a chain of events that sparked a public battle of epic proportions not seen since Brad's split from Jen.

It was clear from the moment the sensational news broke that Angelina had filed for divorce that this was not going to be like the goop-sanctioned breakups we have been privy to in the past. Instead of consciously uncoupling amid joint photo opportunities with estranged spouses and co-parents putting on their best movie star smiles, there were jaw-dropping allegations, most of which were aimed in Brad's direction. Had he been drinking excessively? Did he get too close to his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard? Was he too strict with the kids? The never-ending blame over who was really at fault for the disintegration of the most public of marriages played out on the front pages of newspapers around the world.

Little did we realize, as the headlines started to pile up, that the explosive nature of the breakup was merely mirroring the relationship dynamics that had been playing out behind closed doors in the months before that fated trip. "Things had been volatile in their relationship for a little while," says an insider. "They had crazy fights and wouldn't speak for a bit. They would take some time apart, go on location, calm down and miss each other.

"But, no matter how bad it got, Brad, especially, was never planning on walking away. Every so often, Angelina threatened divorce, but in Brad's eyes, their lives were stressful because they were raising six kids, things were always going to work out."

Obviously he was wrong.

By Thanksgiving, the war between the Jolie-Pitts was reaching fever pitch and Brad had barely seen the kids since Jolie filed for divorce seeking primary custody. Confusion still remained even after he was cleared by authorities in the plane incident. Then when he was temporarily granted only supervised visitation, it ominously seemed that Brad and Angelina would never see eye to eye.

But as 2017 rolled around, there was a ceasefire. Finally, the two managed to agree on something— and that was to seal any court documents relating to custody, thus putting an end to the publicly frosty he-said, she-said as Brad fought for more access to their kids.

In February, when Angelina was promoting her movie First They Killed My Father in Cambodia, she broke her silence on the split, telling the BBC, "We are and forever will be a family. And so that is how I'm coping. I'm coping with finding a way through to make sure this somehow makes us stronger and closer."

It was only weeks later that we discovered the exact meaning behind her words. Brad had secretly traveled to Cambodia as well, on a prearranged trip so he could spend time with the children. While Brad and Angelina opted to stay in different accommodations, it was still a clear improvement from the bitter rivalry that had split their family apart the previous fall.

So what changed? A source explains, "Brad was shocked at how quickly their family just blew up. Both him and Angelina had always led very private lives and did everything they could to stay out of the public eye for the children's sake. That was an important value and vision that they both shared. And then, for Brad, it felt like she took the kids away and started an all-out war, and that was hard for him to reconcile.

"They did not speak at all for months," the source continues. "He was furious with her in a way he has never been furious before. This was a defining moment in his life and he felt devastated and lost without his kids. He wanted to protect them but everything was discussed through lawyers."

According to our insider, from the very start Brad hoped the details of their split would remain confidential, but it took some time for both of them to agree on their differences. "They have made some progress and are taking small steps in the right direction. Both are in agreement on putting the kids first. So that part of the equation is better."

It's now been seven months since Angelina's surprise filing and, while things are far from the fairy tale we once imagined their life to be, the Jolie-Pitts are managing to regain some of the privacy they once enjoyed. The kids are now rebuilding their relationship with their father, and the actors who first met when they played an embattled couple in Mr. and Mrs. Smith are finally on speaking terms. Things are starting to go back to a new kind of normal for the clan.

"The kids have always adored Brad and have a very solid relationship with him," says a friend of the pair. "He is a fun dad and extremely loving and affectionate but definitely the disciplinarian and stricter of the two parents. They have occasional moments, like any parents and kids do, but at the end of the day there is nothing but love, role modeling and guidance at the core."

Therapists have also helped bring the family back together. "Angelina regrets the way she handled certain things and wants to be at peace with Brad," the friend says. And Brad "will continue to put the kids first and not say anything negative about their mother.

"He feels like his life fell apart in one day. His kids are everything to him and their happiness and success is what's most important. He would never ever put them through what they went through if he could have prevented it."

As far as those inevitable rumors that the pair might become the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of the modern era, our sources say a romantic reconciliation is very unlikely. "Brad is way too upset still. He blames Angie for how public everything became," one insider says. "He knows that eventually it is best to forgive her and be on good terms for the sake of the children but he feels let down in a way he never thought was possible. He saw a different side of her and he can't forget. The way everything went down has been beyond comprehension."

Although the source does warn us that, when it comes to these two, you can "never say never."

Angelina has also been doing her part to try to heal the inevitable pain a family feels when it is torn apart. While initially choosing to rent a Malibu home for her and the children to reside in post-blowup, she has now forked out $25 million so the kids can live just a few streets away from the home they shared with their dad in Los Feliz. "Going back and forth from Malibu was far and inconvenient," confirms an insider. "They will be moving in this summer and will continue to see Brad more regularly."

Ultimately, there are six young people who matter more to Brad and Angelina than any slight or hurt feelings.

"It all comes down to what's best for the kids," the source says, "and Brad hopes that somehow, some way, they will come out of this stronger and better off. He is going to devote his life to being the best dad he can be."

Amanda Seyfried

E! NEWS -- Welcome to the parenthood journey,  Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski.

It's only been a couple of weeks since the Hollywood couple welcomed their first child into the world. In a short amount of time, however, the pair has already experienced plenty of joy as mom and dad.

"Like all first time parents, they are overwhelmingly happy and overwhelmingly exhausted," a source shared with E! News exclusively.

Our insider added, "They're surrounded by loving friends and family and they can't imagine going through all of it with anyone else."

While the newlyweds have yet to reveal any personal details about their daughter, it's perfectly clear that 2017 is already turning into a very special year.

During a recent appearance on The Late Late Show, Thomas revealed that he secretly elopedwith Amanda in March.

"We just took off into the country with an officiant and just the two of us, and we did our thing…We had a great day," he shared. "It was perfect."

According to Thomas, both parties wrote their own vows and recited them in front of Amanda's dog who was in attendance.

"She's the person I love, admire, respect most in the world," Thomas gushed to James Corden. "It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other."

While a wedding was more than exciting, it was the arrival of a newborn that really had this couple pumped for the future. While supporting their new movie The Last Word, the couple gushed about their future family member.

"I'm ready to go," Amanda admitted to E! News' Marc Malkin. "I'm ready to meet the kid!" Thomas added, "I'm terrified but I couldn't be more excited. She gets the singing. I do the diaper changing."

Congratulations again to the happy couple!

Ryan Gosling

E! NEWS -- Gosling jetted into Las Vegas for CinemaCon to promote Blade Runner 2049, the much anticipated sequel to Ford's 1982 classic Blade Runner. Ford reprises his iconic role of Rick Deckard while Gosling plays a mysterious LAPD officer.

E! News asked Gosling what was more nerve-racking—making a musical or shooting his first scene with Ford?

"I think the latter," Gosling said. "[Ford] is just the best as a guy, as an actor in every way. He's such a part of my childhood and he was so great how he showed up to set, just rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He was the best partner, collaborator you could have.

"They created such a legacy with this film," he continued. "Time has proven its specialness. So obviously we wanted to do right by him and by the original."

And then there was the time Ford accidentally punched Gosling in the face during a fight scene. "Or I leaned into it," Gosling cracked. "There's a strong chance that that's what happened. You don't want to mess with Harrison Ford."

Gosling, 36, was just two years old when the original Blade Runner was released. He first saw the movie when he was about 13.

"Being on the [Blade Runner 2049] set was surreal," he said. "It's so baked into my subconscious as a kid that in some way it had this strange feeling of coming home. But to be walking around in that universe, a universe that had such an influence over everything I had seen growing up was really surreal."

Blade Runner 2049 will be in theaters on Oct. 6.

Gosling, dressed casually in a hoodie and jeans, took to the stage at CinemaCon to introduce new footage from the movie, which included a snippet of Jared Leto as a villain and Robin Wright as another police officer.

CinemaCon is an annual convention for movie theater owners that kicked off last night and runs through Thursday.
