Hollywood star Shia LaBeouf will check into rehab to help his chances of beating a drunk-driving conviction, according to media reports. The sexy 22 year old suffered serious hand injuries and was charged with driving under the influence after a serious car crash with his SUV in Hollywood on July 27. Investigators have ruled the other driver caused the accident by running a red light, but LaBeouf is still facing a stiff sentence for drunk driving when he appears in court later this month, and he's prepared to do anything to help his case, reports the New York Post. The newspaper claims LaBeouf is readying himself for rehab because "judges like to see it." A spokesperson for the actor, who checked out of the hospital on Saturday, declined to comment on the allegations, adding: "Right now, we're focusing on Shia's hand."

BILL MURRAY'S SWEDISH DRUNK CHARGE
Bill Murray is facing charges of being drunk and in charge of a golf buggy. The 'Caddyshack' star - who had been at a Swedish golf tournament - was stopped by Stockholm police when they saw the cart being driven "erratically on the pavement" through the city centre at 3.30am on Sunday. Murray, 56, was asked to take a breath test because the officers believed they could smell alcohol on his person, but he refused citing American legislation. Detective Inspector Christer Holmlund said: "He refused to blow in the instrument. So we applied the old method - a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are in."The comic actor was taken into custody and signed a document acknowledging he had been operating the cart under the influence. He also agreed to let a police officer plead guilty for him should the case go to trial. Murray - who was allowed to leave the country on Monday - will be charged if tests reveal his blood level exceeded the legal limit in Sweden. The Oscar-nominated actor apparently "borrowed" the golf buggy from the Scandic Anglais hotel when he had been staying to drive the 800 yards to the Cafe Opera nightclub. He was pulled over on his way back.Fredrik Nilsmark, head of the Scandinavian Masters golf tournament, said: "I don't hold any grudge against Bill Murray for borrowing our cart for a while."

PARIS HILTON COULD SERVE LESS JAIL TIME
Paris Hilton could serve just half of her jail sentence due to prison over crowding, authorities said yesterday. The hotel heiress - who was last week jailed for 45 days for driving with a suspended licence - could serve less than three weeks due to a state directive to reduce terms for good behaviour and to ease overcrowding.Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said: "It's possible that it could be 21 days to 23 days. It's a complicated formula that the state sets down. It's possible that she could do less time."Our jail is bursting at the seams and some women inmates have been released after serving only 10 per cent of their sentence."Last year, 'Lost' actress Michelle Rodriguez was released within hours due to over crowding, despite being sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating probation after her drunk driving arrest in Hawaii. Paris will be eligible for 'Good Time/Work Time' credit, a federal mandate which allows inmates sentenced to 11 days or more to leave early if they behave themselves. Every 4 days a inmate spends behind bars "in an acceptable manner"count as six days. Meanwhile a 'Save Paris' rally held in New York's Greenwich Village flopped yesterday when only three protesters turned up.The trio held up posters of 'The Simple Life' star with the words "martyr"and "victim" on them.

Paris Hilton could go to jail after violating her probation. The hotel heiress faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in prison if she is found guilty of driving while her license was suspended. Paris pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was placed on 36 months probation in January.Paris was then stopped by police on February 27 for driving without her headlights on - and discovered by officers to be driving with a suspended license. The 26-year-old star insisted she was unaware her license was suspended and she was in violation of her probation. Her spokesman Elliot Mintz said: "When Paris called me after she was pulled over, she asked if her license was suspended. If that's the case, she and I are unaware of it."However, Los Angeles' City Attorney's Office says it has evidence proving Paris was aware of her suspension. NICOLE RICHIE COULD GO TO JAIL
Nicole Richie was charged Friday with misdemeanor driving under the influence. In addition to the single count, the case contains an allegation that Richie had a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction in June 2003, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said. The California vehicle code specifies that if convicted of DUI twice within 10 years, a person can be sentenced to between 90 days and a year in jail, fined between $390 and $1,000, and have driving privileges suspended. The complaint alleges Richie was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and an unspecified drug when she was arrested Dec. 11, said prosecution spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons. Arraignment was scheduled for Feb. 21 in suburban Glendale Superior Court. Richie, who starred in the TV reality show "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton, does not have to appear because it is a misdemeanor case. Telephone messages seeking comment from Richie's publicist Nicole Perna were not immediately returned. Richie, 25, was arrested Dec. 11 after 911 callers reported her car headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank about 12:30 a.m. She was found alone in her SUV, stopped in a car-pool lane.Richie was arrested after she failed a field sobriety test, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP Officer Todd Workman said at the time that Richie, the daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie, volunteered information that she had smoked marijuana and taken the prescription painkiller Vicodin, but no drugs were found on her or in the car.
