New York City

Living in a place with limitless designer boutiques to shop and restaurants to dine, it is little surprise that any man may feel overwhelmed when it comes to weighing his options and staying on trend in the city that never sleeps. With The Guys’ Guide to New York City, we have selected a few fall favorites ranging from fashion and grooming essentials to restaurant hotspots, highlighting the best-of-the-best for the quintessential New York man of luxury to indulge in this fall 2013.

For the Trendsetter

Fifty Shades of Grey

Cropped Cardigan hats and gloves

While perfectly tailored suits may be on point for weekday wear, weekend style can found in a versatile button down cardigan, like the Jarel Color Block Shawl Collar Cardigan from Christopher Fischer Cashmere. Versatile in its looks, the Jarel Color Block Shawl Collar Cardigan can be matched perfectly with khakis for a Sunday brunch or dark denim for an evening of cocktails with friends. Additionally, the Jarel Color Block Shawl Collar Cardigan is the perfect transitional piece that can be worn over any v-neck or crewneck for day-to-night wear. For days that pack a bit more chill, multi-toned grey cardigan can be paired perfectly with the Christopher Fischer Cashmere Hamlet Scarf, Hamilton Hat and Hemp Gloves, each piece made 100-percent of the finest cashmere. – Jarel Color Block Shawl Collar Cardigan, $368; Hamlet Scarf, $350; Hamilton Hat, $125; and Hemp Glove, $135, available at Christopher Fischer Cashmere stores and online at:

Rock and Roll All Night

New to their Men’s Fall 2013 Collection, Christopher Fischer Cashmere has launched Rock Legends, a limited series of three sweaters embellished with the faces of rock ‘n’ roll icons of the 1970s. Just in time for the release of the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side, two of the three pieces included in the collection bear the silhouette of Hendrix himself. Additionally, John Lennon can be found as a part of the Rock Legends collection, as he once performed at 80 Wooster Street which is now home to the Christopher Fischer SoHo store. Although it is unique to other designs of Christopher Fischer Cashmere, each Rock Legends sweater is made with nothing but the highest-quality cashmere for guaranteed luxury and comfort. Whether you are headed to a local lounge for music and cocktails with friends, strolling through Central Park on a weekend afternoon or even rocking the runway as seen on reality TV star Jonathan Cheban, the Christopher Fischer Rock Legends Collection provides the trendy man with a casual look without taking way from the quality and luxury of Christopher Fischer Cashmere. – Rock Legends Sweaters, $495, available at Christopher Fischer Cashmere stores and online at:

For the Well-Groomed Man

Boardroom Eyebrows

The Joey Healy Collection Elite Sculpting Tweezer brows

With the idea in mind that the perfect brows are only for women, many men are resistant to getting their brows shaped. A man of distinction, however, understands the value of careful grooming, as the quintessential brow—otherwise known as the Boardroom Brow according to celebrity eyebrow stylist Joey Healy— will accentuate a masculine face shape and enhance the overall eye color. What better to compliment that power suit than a power brow to match? When it comes to shaping a thick, effortless brow perfect for the boardroom, Joey Healy recommends a stainless steel, slanted tweezer like the Joey Healy’s Elite Sculpting Tweezer to get rid of strays without making brows look overworked. To top off a Boardroom Brow that will last throughout the day and night, men should be sure to use a professional finishing tool like Joey Healy’s Brow Structure Clear Set for a clear hold that gives a polished finish to their new shape. – Joey Healy Elite Scultping Tweezer, $35, and Joey Healy Brow Structure Clear Set, $25, available at:

For the Foodie

Debonair Dining Experience

Vault Entrance

With so many steakhouses to choose from in this bustling city, it can be a challenge to decipher which one offers a dining experience up to par for the well-kept man. Bobby Van’s Broad Street location is the epitome of a classy steakhouse, and it is the perfect choice for a sophisticated man with an equally sophisticated palate. The chefs at Bobby Van’s know that top notch quality cuts of meat must be met with expert culinary skill, and they do not disappoint. The classic steakhouse fare prepared here is truly lust worthy, and the attentive servers ensure that guests will never see the bottom of their glass.

The lower level dining room is located in J.P. Morgan’s original bank vault, the historic site where New York's elite, including the Vanderbilts, Astors, and J.P. Morgan himself, rented safety deposit boxes. With masculine touches of mahogany, elegant lighting and crisp white table cloths, this restaurant sets the scene for a debonair dining experience suitable for a man of luxury. Long gone are the days of the Financial District emitting at 6:00 p.m., as Bobby Van’s Broad Street is filled with a classy evening crowd of clientele that includes the likes of Keanu Reeves, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Mariano Rivera, Spike Lee, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade, just to name a few. Voted one of the Best High-Class Happy Hours by TimeOut New York, Bobby Van’s offers half priced bottles of wine at their Financial District location between 4:30p.m. and 11:30p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. – To make a reservation at Bobby Van’s Broad Street please call: (212) 344-8463 or visit HERE.

Christopher Fischer

Just in time for fall, Christopher Fischer Cashmere has added an additional location for its baby pop-up shop. Starting in September 2013, this petite shop will make its way to Christopher Fischer East Hampton with the rest of the Christopher Fischer Baby Fall 2013 collection and a select few staple pieces from previous seasons.

Looking at what is new for Fall 2013, Christopher Fischer creates an animalistic vibe with new crew neck sweaters embellished with owls, foxes, hedgehogs and more. Matching these sweaters, Christopher Fischer Baby also introduces warm-weather gear with bear paw booties, raccoon mittens and hedgehog hats. Going along with these natural instincts, fur vests and jackets as well as Navajo print cardigans and moccasins have been introduced to the collection.

For those who choose to give less of a “wild child” persona, William and Kate inspired intarsia sweaters are sure to make every baby look like royalty. Princes and princesses alike can complete the look with newly introduced cardigans, dresses and leggings, all of which are 100-percent cashmere. Besides Christopher Fischer Baby clothing pieces and warm weather gear from both 2013 seasons, the pop-up shop also includes home accessories and stuffed animals.

Each piece offered at the pop-up shop can be purchased for children ranging from newborns to age five. The Christopher Fischer East Hampton and Southampton pop-up shops are open Monday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

Christopher Fischer

This summer Christopher Fischer Cashmere will create exhibits within its Southampton and East Hampton stores to showcase a select group of artisan designers that represent the American Northeast. Textile designer Rebecca Atwood, along with furniture design studios Richard Watson and O&G Studio, will have their wares on display and available for custom order throughout the 2013 summer season.

Limited edition hand painted pillows from Brooklyn-based textile designer Rebecca Atwood’s Blauvelt Collection will be available exclusively at Christopher Fischer’s  East Hampton locations.

Atwood’s Blauvelt Collection is deeply rooted in her everyday observations of life in Brooklyn, as well as her own heritage and upbringing on Cape Cod surrounded by the ocean, antiques and her family restaurant. Inspired by water and waves, city shadows and paint splatters, behind each design is a story drawn from Atwood’s family heirlooms, natural textures, vintage patterns discovered at flea markets, inspired color combinations from her travels or compositions that began in her sketchbook. Atwood layers these experiences, blending traditional textile techniques with hand painting, dyeing and printing, to create thoughtfully crafted products that are simple, yet luxurious.

Atwood’s pieces are designed to be casually elegant and practical at the same time, meant to be lived with and enjoyed. They are made of durable, but soft, natural fabrics including cotton canvas and twill, as well as natural and chambray linen.

View Rebecca Atwood’s online lookbook here.

Brookline, Massachusetts-based furniture design studio Richard Watson will be featured at Christopher Fischer’s East Hampton location.

Christopher Fischer Collection

The Christopher Fischer team has been inspired by 80 Wooster Street's historic past in the 1960's & 1970's as a focal point for the NYC art scene. In its former identity as Fluxhouse II, the building at 80 Wooster Street served as a who’s who for the nascent NYC Fluxus art movement, hosting such celebrities as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Andy Warhol.

The new look of the Christopher Fischer Cashmere SoHo boutique has taken style cues and inspiration from this rich history as a meeting place for influential New York City art scene personalities.

In 1967, George Maciunas transformed the former factory at 80 Wooster Street into Fluxus Cooperative II, the first artists coop in the city, and gave influential artists the opportunity to launch their careers. Illegal Living, by Roslyn Bernstein and Shael Shapiro (and available at the Christopher Fischer boutique) tells the history of the building in great detail.

Cable Vee Neck Peter Bunny

The Christopher Fischer Spring 2013 Baby Collection is destined to inspire every child’s wildest imagination. With whimsical animal motifs, pirate and nautical themes, each tiny-fashionista’s storybook dreams are bound to come to life.

For Spring 2013, bold coral and turquoise are combined with delicate silver, lavender and oatmeal beige hues, while using only the plushest of cashmere. Children even have their choice of a knitted sidekick: Peter Bunny or Oliver Monkey. And, if that’s not enough, a Christopher Fischer cashmere blanket transforms into their softest and “never to be parted from” friend.

Christopher Fischer is a favorite of “in-the-know,” fashion conscious and celebrity moms and dads, including British soccer star David Beckham, who was recently spotted buying Christopher Fischer Baby at Fred Segal in LA.

Christopher Fischer Style

Inspired by the global traveler, Christopher Fischer’s Spring 2013 Collection balances modern and luxe style with adventurous spirit, capturing the allure of Arabian sunsets and African landscapes.

The Spring collection highlights artisanal textures and rustic patchworks that draw from a soft, earthbound palette. Loose, asymmetrical shapes define this season’s relaxed feel, while subtly exotic embellishments add hints of elegance. Bold prints conjure images of tribal and tropical lands, lending to a sense of adventure.

Christopher Fischer’s sporty and modern basics are also reintroduced this season, color blocked and highlighted with splashes of shocking neon. Fine and ever so soft knits are perfectly mixed, fused, and layered to enhance the element of luxe, lush and easy dressing.

The collection’s combination of quality and chic style will carry any woman through her adventure, allowing her to feel at home, no matter where she lands.
