According to Todd, this event is not just being done for close friends. Instead, it's being held for fans to celebrate two special lives. The one-hour special, anchored by Elizabeth Vargas, includes the highs and lows of Reynold’s memorable career, a spotlight on the next generation and Fisher’s life in Hollywood as well as heartfelt tributes from family and friends. “Debbie and Carrie: Heartbreak in Hollywood” airs tonight Friday, December 30 (10:00-11:00pm ET) on ABC. “20/20” is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.

Singin' in the Rain E! NEWS -- When it came to Debbie Reynolds' final hours, the Hollywood icon had one heartfelt wish: She wanted to be with her daughter Carrie Fisher. Shortly after news broke that the Singin' in the Rain star had passed away, Todd Fisher opened up to E! News about his mom's mindset. "She went to be with Carrie. In fact, those were the last words that she spoke this morning," he shared with E! News. "More specifically, she said that she really, she was under a lot of stress." Todd continued, "She held it together beautifully, obviously, for the last couple of days but she was under a lot of emotion and stress from the loss [of Carrie] and it's pretty much what triggered this event." UPDATE: Debbie Reynolds has died at the age of 84. The world has lost another Hollywood legend! Debbie Reynolds & Carrie Fisher On Oprah In 2011 Famed legend Debbie Reynolds was rushed to the hospital from a home in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, just one day after the death of her daughter, "Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher. Reynolds was hospitalized after a call that she was having trouble breathing, two law enforcement sources familiar with the incident told NBC News . Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart confirmed an adult female was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center "in fair to serious condition" from an address associated with Reynolds' family. Reynolds, 84, catapulted to fame after her first leading role in 1952 at age 19, playing Kathy Selden in "Singin' in the Rain," starring alongside veterans Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor.
