AVENUE on the Beach, published by AVENUE Magazine in June, July and August, hosted a Summer 2016 kick-off party at Southampton’s new Japanese fusion restaurant Kozu. The event, hosted by AVENUE President Randi Schatz, featured DJ Super Dave from Allen Dalton Entertainment Group, and guests enjoyed wine and champagne from VieVite, vodka from Mamont, and a pop-up make up station from Blushington. Guests were also offered delectabe hors d'oeuvres from the Kozu kitchen.

AVENUE beach-inspired gift bags were offered to guests as they were leaving the event, containing summer essentials such as a golf ball from Serenity Transportation, sunscreen from Hampton Sun, a pouch from Le Sportsac, polar shot glasses from Mamont, sunglasses accessories from Cohen’s Fashion Optical, and of course the June 2016 issue of AVENUE on the Beach. More than 350 guests attended the event.

AVENUE on the Beach, helmed by President Randi Schatz and Editor-In-Chief Daisy Prince, follows it's readers to the Hamptons in the summer months with engaging profiles about people of influence, fashion, art, families and trends in the Hamptons. About Kozu:

Kozu is a Japanese Fusion restaurant run by restauranteur and 75 Main & AM Southampton owner Zach Erdem. The restaurant offers Japanese cuisine and sushi with Peruvian influences. The menu, designed by Head Chef John Keller, features signature dishes such as the Kozu Jalapeño Yellowtail with Smoked Tomato Ponzu; the Summer Corn and Lobster Salad with a Corn "Pudding", Shiso, and Yuzu Dressing; and the Heirloom Tomatoes and Japanese Cucumber with Toasted Sesame Dressing, Yuzu Salt, Micro Cilantro and Piment d'Espelette. Southampton staple 75 Main, which is open all year-round, has debuted an appealing new Fall Menu which balances familiar favorites with new dishes, highlighting the very best of autumnal flavors and produce.

For the past 30 years, 75 Main has remained a Southampton staple, attracting locals, visitors and celebrities alike. Owner and rising restaurateur Zach Erdem has revamped the year-round restaurant and lounge with exciting additions sure to spice up the 2013 summer season.

This summer, James Beard Award winner, Chef Mark Militello of 75 Main Delray will head the kitchen at 75 Main in Southampton, bringing a taste of South Florida to the East End. Often credited with putting South Florida on America’s culinary map, Chef Mark Militello is recognized for creating “Floribbean” cuisine, a unique style of contemporary American cooking that combines Italian, Asian and Caribbean influences. Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff will be seamlessly blending enjoyment of the Hamptons with making a difference for people through her leadership and support of multiple charities this summer. Jean will serve as the Chairwoman of the 55th Annual Southampton Hospital Summer Party and as an Honorary Chairwoman of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s Fourth Annual Unconditional Love Dinner Dance.

Jean is serving as the Chairwoman of the 55th Annual Southampton Hospital Summer Party. This will be her third time hosting the Gala, scheduled to take place on August 3, 2013. The fundraiser perennially attracts around nine hundred guests, and raised nearly $2 million when Jean was chair in 2011 and $1.75 million when she chaired it in 2010. Proceeds from this year’s Gala will go to the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department and the Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart and Stroke Center.

Jean is also serving as an Honorary Chair of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation’s Fourth Annual Unconditional Love Dinner Dance, which will take place on July 20, 2013. The elegant Gala will be a dinner for about 250 people. Proceeds raised will be directed not only to daily care of the shelter animals, but also to special projects undertaken by the shelter over the past year. Included are rescue efforts for dogs that have been rescued from puppy mills and the programs that the shelter has developed for special needs children.

Jean is on several charity boards, including Southampton Bath & Tennis Club’s Charitable Foundation, The New York Women’s Foundation®, The Couture Council, JBFCS, French Heritage Society, and Lighthouse International Advisory Board. Each year Jean chairs and sponsors a number of charity events both in the Hamptons and New York.

Rising restaurateur Zach Erdem has gained considerable attention in the hospitality industry after transforming a seasonal Hamptons dining staple into a year-round hotspot. The dynamic 32-year-old has used his unique design to balance the classic style of the Hamptons with the enticing elements of New York City nightlife to reinvent the Southampton eatery, 75 Main. The ever popular restaurant and lounge has become a favorite among locals, visitors and celebrities alike, attracting Hollywood’s A-Listers and politicians such as Sarah Jessica Parker, LA Reid, Kelly Ripa, Stanley Tucci, Sofia Vergara, Howard Stern, Pierce Brosnan, Barbara Walters, Jodie Foster, Alex Rodriquez and Vice President Joe Biden.

Erdem’s esteemed reputation in the restaurant industry was not established overnight. After moving from Turkey to the United States in 2002, Erdem was struggling to make a living and had planned to move back home after just six months. With only sixty dollars in his pocket—which was loaned to him by a friend—Erdem decided to take a quick trip to the Hamptons two days before his scheduled flight. After arriving at the East End, he ordered lunch at the first restaurant he saw—75 Main.
