The Southampton Inn Library

Although the Hamptons are best known as a summer destination, one of the best ways to experience the Hamptons is by taking a family vacation during the fall and winter seasons. Now that summer is over, Hamptons’ residents and visitors alike are savoring the slower pace and relishing all that the East End has to offer. Southampton Inn, the perfect year-round family getaway, is nestled on more than five acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and located just steps away from designer boutiques, art galleries, parks and museums.

A local landmark, the warm, Tudor-style Inn is home to 90 guestrooms, OSO Restaurant, a conference center, and 71 Hill Street— the premier office complex in Southampton Village. Under the direction of CEO and Managing Partner Dede Gotthelf, Southampton Inn has solidified its reputation as the perfect Hamptons home-away-from-home for any traveler, offering its guests an array of family-friendly amenities and activities including a game room for children of all ages, an all-weather tennis court, a cozy library with a fireplace, access to Southampton activities, as well as the Inn’s complimentary shuttle service to Cooper’s Beach. The beaches are still beautiful and typically, the water stays warm through the end of October.

During the fall months, Southampton Inn provides guests with access to a variety of local, seasonal activities. Every autumn, local farms and vineyards enjoy bountiful harvests. Fall is the best time of year to experience a wine tasting at a local vineyard such as the Wölffer Estate, enjoy a scenic lighthouse tour and hike or horseback ride through the falling leaves. It is also the only time of year to go pumpkin and apple picking, navigate a corn maze and enjoy a haunted hayride. Cinephiles take note – it is also the season of the annual Hamptons International Film Festival, which will take place Thursday, October 4 – Monday, October 8, 2012.

Winter At Southampton Inn

During the winter months, a trip to the Hamptons is sure to get the whole family in the holiday spirit. Bare trees are adorned with twinkling lights, boutiques showcase beautiful window displays and carolers go door to door. For indoor fun, see a local holiday show or visit one of the East End’s fine museum and art galleries, such as the highly anticipated Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, which will open in late fall, or the Pollock-Krasner House, the East Hampton home of artists Jackson Pollock Lee Krasner, which now serves as a museum and study center. Bridgehampton’s Children's Museum of the East End, with its fire engine replica, painting room, library and climbing ship, is a perfect place to let kids run off some steam on a dreary day.

To make the most of a weekend getaway, enlist the help of the friendly staff at Southampton Inn. Take advantage of Southampton Inn’s concierge service and allow them to arrange all the fun fall and winter activities that bring back your childhood memories. No matter the season, Southampton Inn is the perfect East End destination for celebrating all holidays including Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year’s Eve.

If you enjoy the beach lifestyle, Dune Point Fire Island is for you. Since the editor of this website has spent many summers in the Gay mecca, he will stay at only one place. Dune Point in Cherry Grove.

Cherry Grove is a historic beach town, located off the coast of Long Island New York. There are no cars and only boardwalks, all with nifty street names. The town consists of a small United States Post Office, along with several restaurants and nightclubs.

Cherry's On The Bay is the premiere club on the island.  Cherry's is located on the bay side of the island, on The Great South Bay. Sandcastle on the ocean, is the only restaurant-bar located on the beach. Though new to the scene, early reviews say it's a hit. This is a sure stop for beach watching.

Cherry Grove has a supermarket, Pizza restaurant and some great shops, to stock up on beach gear. Rainbow Dreams is the place everyone goes. This is located in the back of The Grove Hotel.

Dune Point Studio With Private Deck

Dune Point is also located on the ocean. Most of the rooms have been renovated and it is the place where everyone has to stay, including this editor. Every room has complete kitchens, so there is never a need to leave if you do not want too. Dune Point is also minutes away from all the nightlife. Outside the complex, there is everything you need.
