The 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 West 43th Street) in Manhattan. This year’s award show is being written by cast album producer, playwright, and two-time Drama Desk Award winner Bill Rosenfield and directed by multi-award winning director Mark Waldrop (Divine Miss Millennium Tour, When Pigs Fly, Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends). Executive Producer Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania, will present the awards ceremony with Robert R. Blume and David S. Stone in association with Renee McCurry. Tamar and Trina Braxton (“Braxton Family Values”), Anthony Anderson (“Law & Order”), Sherri Shepherd (“The View”), Robert Forster (“Jackie Brown”) and Kim Coles (“Living Single”) will guest star on the first season of TV Land’s new series “The Soul Man,” starring Cedric “The Entertainer” and Niecy Nash, premiering Wednesday, June 20 at 10pm ET/PT on TV Land.

Anthony Anderson has been tapped to appear this season as Sweet Brown, Boyce’s (Cedric) old music-writing partner. Brown visits St. Louis to help Boyce get over his writer’s block for an upcoming sermon, but ends up pulling Boyce back into his old R&B star habits.

Shepherd will guest star as Sherie, Lolli’s (Nash) cousin who is always up to no good. Trina and Tamar Braxton will play Rose and Catherine Pinkney, sisters who audition for the church choir only to find out that they are both dating Stamps (Wesley Johnathan), Boyce’s handsome younger brother.

Kim Coles makes an appearance as Wanda, a church-going woman who stops by Lolli’s salon hoping to get a special shampoo that all the ladies are raving about. Finally, Robert Forster will guest star as Father Ignatius, the head of a St. Louis clergy organization that seems to closely resemble the mob.

“The Soul Man” revolves around R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine, who was living the high life in Las Vegas at the top of the music charts when he decided to go from soul singer to soul saver. Relocating to St. Louis with his wife, Lolli, and daughter, Lyric (Jazz Raycole), to preach in his father’s church, his family isn’t exactly eager to give up the fabulous superstar life for a humble one. The sitcom also stars John Beasley (“Everwood”) as Boyce’s father, and Wesley Johnathan (“What I Like About You”) as his brother. “The Soul Man” is a spin-off of TV Land’s hit sitcom “Hot in Cleveland.”

Cedric “The Entertainer” and Suzanne Martin (“Hot in Cleveland”) will serve as executive producers for “The Soul Man,” along with Eric Rhone. Emmy® Award-winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions are also executive producers for “The Soul Man.” Keith Cox and Larry W. Jones will be executive producers for TV Land. Phoef Sutton (“Cheers”) is the showrunner and Stan Lathan (“The Steve Harvey Show”) serves as the director. The series is filmed in front of a live studio audience.

Coinciding with "New Era Thursdays" at the MLB Fan Cave, Nick Offerman (sporting new blond hair and goatee) dropped by the MLB Fan Cave in New York City Thursday.

Offerman met the nine MLB Fan Cave Dwellers who are competing in a season-long series of challenges with one eventual winner crowned before the end of the 2012 World Series. Following his tour of the MLB Fan Cave, Offerman discussed his role in New Era's 2012 Rivals campaign.

Last week New Era continued its 2012 Major League Baseball (MLB) marketing campaign celebrating rivalries and team pride with the launch of its second TV spot featuring Offerman and The Office's Craig Robinson. Robinson, who grew up on the south side of Chicago as a serious White Sox fan, and Offerman, a passionate Cubs fans from Minooka, IL, once again exchange some friendly back and forth trash-talking about each other's teams.

The campaign, which consists of a series of four commercials, demonstrates the true meaning of team rivalry and shines a light on the Windy City rivalry between the White Sox and the Cubs, two clubs with 260 years of baseball history between them.

CRABCAKE RECIPE WITH STEPHEN DANIELLO

Cajun Lump Crab, Corn, and Leek Crabcakes!

Yield: Makes 2 Crabcakes

1 can Jumbo lump Crabmeat

3/4 cup Mayonnaise

1/4 cup Dijon Mustard

2 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning

3 Tbsp Lemon Juice

1/4 cup Chopped Leeks

1/4 cup or 1 medium size Cobb Blanched fresh corn off the cob

2 Tbsp Fresh Chopped Parsley

1/2 cup Panko Bread Crumbs

1/4 cup Canola oil for frying

salt and pepper to taste

Method: Gently break apart lump crabmeat and set aside until ready to incorporate with binding mixture.

Binding Mix: Combine Mayonnaise, Dijon Mustard, Old Bay, Lemon Juice, Chopped Leeks, Blanched Corn Kernels, Chopped Parsley, salt and pepper.

Note: Blanched Corn: partially cooked or blanched in water to make tender.

Combine half of the binding mixture to test consistency before adding the full amount for firmness. Shape and mold crabcakes to the desired shape and size.

Gently roll crabcakes in Panko and coat lightly.

Heat canola oil in a saute pan and fry until golden.

Heat in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.

Cajun Dipping sauce:

1 cup Mayonnaise

1/4 cup Dijon Mustard

3 Tbsp Horseradish

2 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning

1 tsp Cajun Seasoning

2 Tbsp Chopped Parsley

Combine all ingredients and start dipping.

Just want to say hi to all you followers of Times Square Gossip. My big fan James Edstrom has spent many a night grooving to my tunes on my Fire Island dance floor and has asked me to write a dance music column for you about what's hot in the clubs. I am a pop music dance DJ primarily on the gay scene in the North East. I just won "Best Dance DJ" by GO Magazine (www.gomag.com). In the summer my favorite residency is the club "Cherrys On The Bay" in Cherry Grove on Fire Island. I will be reporting from there. I have been a resident DJ on Fire Island since 2006 which is a seasonal beach community attracting tourist from all over the world. The majority of the dance crowd on Fire Island are gays from the Tri State area. The clubs in the Grove are legendary and are an excellent barometer for what's hot in the clubs!

The Fire Island season officially kicks off with the BIG Memorial Day crowds and dance parties all weekend! The first summer dance hits will start their rotation this weekend. The question at the beginning of the summer is which song will eventually be the quintessential summer anthem for 2012! Last summer hands down it was Adele's "Someone Like You." There is so much fun music out there moving the dance floor and J Lo's "Dance Again' is at the top of the pop request list at the moment. There are a bunch of excellent remixes out there, the original remix being a fav as well as the Cosmic Dawn remix and Miguel Vargas' remix.

At the end of last summer I was OBSESSED with the infectious David Guetta/ Sia collaboration on "Titanium." Still one of my favorite tracks. "Wild Ones" Sia's 2nd hit with David Guetta was an follow up and made me LOVE LOVE the Australian songstress. She was the vocalist in one of my favorite UK chill groups Zero 7! Check out Zero 7 if you're into chill tunes! "Destiny" is a dreamy ballad made for seduction! The "Wild Ones" remix I am dropping at the moment is the Basto Remix.

So, is Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" on your iPhone yet? Gotye who's real name is Wouter De Backer is from Australia had his first US billboard #1 hit in April 2012 with "Somebody That I Used To Know." Listen to the Brian Cua remix which is highly danceable remix. "Somebody's" female vocalist New Zealander Kimbra just dropped her much anticipated solo album "Vows" this month in the US.

Who can resist the pop sweetness of Canadian recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe?" The remixer Lyrakill has taken it to a more interesting place musically by sampling in Daft Punk's "One More TIme" and Calvin Harris' "Feel So Close." FIERCE remix! Calvin Harris is the hot go-to producer of the moment and his work with Benassi on "Feel So Close" is dance floor magic!

There are tracks I like to call the singers because not only do you dance to them but you want to sing a long as well. Nicki Minaj's pop anthem "Starships" is one of those tunes ya can't help singin'! There are several remixes I like. Funk3D, Liam Keegan and Cosmic Dawn will get your feet moving and you singing at the top of your lungs!

When I first heard this Pitbull I loved it and thought it was a perfect example of how to mix a throwback into a new track. "Back In Time" which is from the soundtrack of the new "Men In Black" movie is a beautiful use of Mickey and Sylvia's "Love Is Strange." Works as well as the track Pitbull recorded last summer "Shake Senora" which of course it a clever remake of the calypso classic by Harry Belafonte "Jump In The Line" which also I love playing in it's original form when I spin an afternoon TDance.

Those are just a few of my commercial picks this week. If you have a broader taste in house music check out "Cry Me A RIver" by The Cliks the Tracy Young remix, "You and I" by Serge Devant featuring vocalist Rachel Starr. You might remember her from that dance floor fav from 2006 "Till There Was You." Serge Devant did another track I adore "Addicted" with the vocalist Hadley. Ida Corr who you remember from that dance floor banger "Let Me Think About It," has a new song I am vibing called "See You Later" a collaboration with the producer Bimbo Jones. The DJ's From Mars who always create the most interesting remixes and mashes have done justice to this track. "You can find and listen to my remix picks on youtube."

While in Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards, pop sensation Justin Bieber made sure to check out CRSVR in The Cosmopolitan Hotel.

The store is the work of Vice - a world renown DJ and entrepreneur who started the business as a sneaker store in Santa Barbara and has just recently and successfully expanded to their Vegas location on December 15, 2010.

Justin Bieber stopped into the hotel solely to check out CRSVR merchandise, with only a few security guards and a friend accompanying him as he browsed the merchandise. CRSVR shut down its venue exclusively for Bieber and soon a crowd of people, including Marquee staff and guests started gathering out front, pressed against the windows, just to get a glimpse of the pop idol. Bieber headed straight to the Stance Socks display and grabbed a bunch of their socks, along with some trendy tank tops and snapbacks. Bieber was gifted with the first ever SLVDR x CRSVR Capsule Collection, an original, incredibly limited line of clothes that consists of 2 tanks, 2 tees, 3 button up shirts, and a windbreaker that is being released in early June.
