Power couple Francesca and her husband Robert Agostinelli attended the 40th Annual American Italian Cancer Foundation Benefit at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.

The dynamic mother of four young girls, Francesca Agostinelli, also served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and has been a strong supporter of the organization since 2014.

The elegant event celebrated the many accomplishments of the organization, such as the Foundation’s Breast Cancer Screening Program and the International Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program.  These fellowships provide critical financial support to talented Italian scientists in America.

Since the program’s inception in 1983, 535 Fellowships have been awarded, and more than 110,000 underprivileged women have received comprehensive breast cancer screening services on their mammogram bus. The Fellowship Program selects only the best and brightest young scientists who perform innovative and groundbreaking research in the field of cancer biology and treatment, at top cancer centers across the country.

The gala’s attendees included Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, the 16th Director of the National Cancer Institute, and Mariangela Zappia, the first woman to become the Ambassador from Italy to the United States.  Also present were Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia and acclaimed journalists Rita Cosby and Rich Lowry.
