The 25th Annual Collaborating for a Cure Gala, one of New York City’s much-anticipated autumn charity events, is celebrating its silver anniversary on Thursday, November 17th, 2022, 6:30 PM at Cipriani Wall Street. The 25th Annual fundraiser hopes to raise $10 million to fund the next five years of crucial SWCRF cancer research programs such as the Partnership for Aging and Cancer, the Institute Without WallsTM, and the Women’s Cancer Research Program.

Known for its history of top-notch live performance, this year’s gala will feature a live concert by Mt. Joy.

Notable attendees include SWCRF Board Chairman Michael Nierenberg, Founder and CEO Dr. Samuel Waxman, Gala Chairs, Spencer Waxman, Nick Santoro, Baron Silverstein, Marc Taub and Gala MC, Chris Wragge.

As in previous years, the Collaborating for a Cure Gala will include both a silent and live auction during the night’s festivities. Some exclusive items will be available on CharityBuzz.com. Online auction opens on November 15th.

“Aging is the leading risk factor for developing cancer, in fact 90 percent of all cancer occur after age 50.  And with an increasingly aging population, the incidence of cancer will continue to rise, creating an unprecedented global burden. Yet, research focused on the link between aging and cancer is grossly underfunded, contributing to suboptimal treatment for older patients,” said Dr. Samuel Waxman.

This is why SWCRF has initiated a focus on aging and cancer over the last several years for example launching a new partnership with the National Cancer Institute and National Institute on Aging in 2018. This initial two-year, $3 million collaboration has been extended through 2024 with an additional $400,000 investment. SWCRF also partnered with Wiley Publishing in 2019 to produce a new scientific peer-reviewed journal titled Aging AND Cancer that is focused on understanding how the process of aging is linked to cancer.

Funding for these projects is raised, in part, from the Foundation’s various events such as the tremendously successful Hamptons Happening and Kids Cancel Cancer events his past summer, the Annual Ladies Luncheon, and this upcoming 25th Annual Collaborating for A Cure Gala.
