Hanna and the Moonlit Dress, based on Izhak Scheiger-Dmi'el's book and adapted for the stage by Ronit Muszkatblit and Yoav Gal, is a magical, interactive musical for children about the power of a good deed. Directed by Ronit Muszkatblit. Hanna is played by Case Watson and the Mother is played by Kate Mulberry. The Music Director is Peter Hodgson.

Young Hannah'le just wanted to help the coal miner carry his heavy sack of coal from the forest, but now--Oh No! Her new white dress is stained with black spots! How can Hanna go to dinner now? Won't Mama be upset? Perhaps the moon will come to Hanna's rescue with its magical light. Join Hanna and her friends, including Edna the cow, Zuzzi the dog, the Coalman and the Moon, in an interactive musical theater experience for children ages 2-8. Hanna helps a stranger, and in the process accidentally dirties her white dress, newly sewn by her mother for Shabbat. Her distress is relieved, however, when she discovers the magic of a good deed.

Children will help create the world of the play by crafting paper masks, costumes, and set pieces with the actors. The show is 50 minutes with no intermission.

'We want the children to learn that if you put out positive energy or a positive action, something good will come back to you. It's a simple story, this cycle, were the goodness that [Hanna] gives to the old man, comes back to her through the moon. It's a simple message, and there's the emphasis on play and draw, and that's why everything is made out of paper, to show that we can create a world, and a play, and a set, just from paper and glue and a black pen. Hanna does a good deed, and something good comes to her, and she shares it with her mom, and they spend time together. It really, for me, that sense of time together more than the religious thing. And it's good that you have a marker, one day a week for rest. If it's not a Saturday, if it's a Wednesday, I don't care. Take time for each-other," said Ronit Muszkatblit, Director of Hanna and Artistic Director of the 14th Street Y.

"With their creativity and spirit, children have the power to remake the world."
