Susan And Matthew Breitenback

Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club welcomed Hamptonites along with celebrities and professional athletes for the 9th Annual Hamptons Golf Classic, a day-long charity golf tournament, hosted by 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Champion and 16-time LPGA Winner Cristie Kerr on Monday, June 24th, 2013. The event honored mother-and-son Hamptons real estate power duo Susan and Matthew Breitenbach, and benefited The Diamonds in the Rough Foundation, which provides support to local charities and individuals.

The charity golf tournament sponsored by BMW and Hamptons Magazine brought out stars including Jets linebacker Nick Mangold, NBC anchor Jane Hanson, and designer Ian Velardi, dubbed GQ’s Best New Menswear designer in America. Two-time longest drive champion Carl Wolfer kept participants from beating his longest drive while Mathew Fraas and his team won the overall competition and took home the Hamptons Golf Classic’s coveted trophy.

The daylong event culminated with Zev Norotsky and Debra Halpert, publisher of Hamptons Magazine, presenting a check for $10,000 to Southampton Hospital’s President Steven M. Bernstein and CEO Robert S. Chaloner for their Ellen Hermanson Breast Center on behalf of The Diamonds In The Rough Foundation and Kerr’s Birdies for Breast Cancer charity.

A highlight of the Hamptons summer season, the Hamptons Golf Classic, founded by Zev Norotsky, was designed to support a great charitable cause and create a fun competition with the spirit of the Hamptons. With scenic vistas spread throughout rolling hills, Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club provided a relaxing setting for the charity event, reflecting the majestic beauty of the East End of Long Island. The Hamptons Golf Classic is an annual opportunity for participants to enjoy access to the exclusive, members-only club.

Past celebrity guests have included Kelsey Grammer, Kyle MacLachlan, Russell Simmons, Rudy Giuliani, Billy Crudup, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Strahan, Anthony Anderson, James Lipton, John Starks, Fat Joe, Rocco DiSpirito, Dhani Jones, Justin Tuck, Chris Duhon, Marc Consuelos, Steven Klein, Lorraine Bracco, and Jill Zarin. Shortly after his legendary Super Bowl XLII helmet catch in the New York Giants’ win against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, former Giants wide receiver David Tyree hosted the Hamptons Golf Classic.

Built in 1965 by Francis J. Duane, a past president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the course at Hampton Hills reflects an inherent respect for the natural beauty of the East End of Long Island. Mr. Duane designed courses with Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and later Arnold Palmer. Spread over 209 acres of rolling hills, the club has earned a rating of 73.6 with a slope of 139. Hampton Hills boasts incredibly scenic vistas, in fact, some tees overlook hundreds of acres with not a home or vehicle in sight to interrupt views or distract players. Club members say the course at Hampton Hills Country Club never plays the same way twice.
