Central Park Summer StageFor the first time ever, City Parks Foundation will announce a portion of its upcoming 26th SummerStage season through the social networking site Twitter. Starting April 1st at 12:00 PM, one SummerStage performance will be announced each day for twenty days, culminating in the full season announcement of over 300 artists at over 100 performances in all five boroughs on April 21st. The Tweets will not only be leaking some of the most anticipated artists of the summer, but will offer fans a chance to win exclusive prizes and preferred venue access.
“As more and more people utilize social networking sites to get their news and information, it’s important that the SummerStage festival keep up with these technologies,” says City Parks Foundation Executive Director, David Rivel. “We want to engage with our fan base in a way that is unique, immediate, and allows fans to connect with one another as well as the performers themselves.”
SummerStage is one of New York’s premier free performing arts festivals, bringing world-class artists and diverse programming to an ever-increasing legion of fans in sixteen parks throughout the five boroughs. With performances ranging from American pop, Latin and world music to dance, spoken word and family programs, SummerStage fills a vital niche in New York City’s summer arts festival landscape. The festival runs from June until the beginning of September presenting over 100 free performances.
