Pop Goes the Parrish!
Underground Pop, an exhibition of more than thirty works by ten artists who represent a personal and idiosyncratic take on the Pop tradition, will open at the Parrish Art Museum Sunday, August 15 and remain on view through October 3.
Organized by the Museum's Los Angeles-based Adjunct Curator David Pagel, Underground Pop focuses on work in a variety of materials that draws on the mass-market iconography of Pop and the handcrafted, low-tech aesthetic of Folk Art. A preview reception on Saturday, August 14 will feature a 6 pm conversation about the exhibition between David Pagel and Parrish Director Terrie Sultan, followed by wine, hors d'oeuvres, and live music on the Museum's west lawn.
Admission is free for Parrish members, $10 for nonmembers. Reservations are strongly suggested for the 6 pm discussion and may be made by calling 631-283-2118, ext.
