ANGELO BABBARO THE NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN
Frank Sinatra, The Chairman of The Board, once famously said, If you can play Youngstown, Ohio (which launched the iconic careers of both Perry Como and Dean Martin) ... you can play anywhere!' Meaning of course, that the location was a killer! Rising from the fabric of the city is Angelo Babbaro ... not exactly a Sinatra-impersonator, but an impassioned singer with the range of Sinatra; the contemporary nature of Michael Buble; and, the crowd-pleasing antics of Harry Connick, Jr. A little bit-Rat Pack for sure and thus far, totally embraced by his audiences and the industry. Babbaro, with his able manager Cynthia Zordich, earlier this year produced a CD that has been passed throughout the industry, engaging everyone who has received it. Now, Babbaro, still based in Ohio, has become the subject of a bidding war within the industry. Babbaro recorded with the CD with the assistance of legendary producer Gary Rhamy, who resume includes productions from the likes of Maureen McGovern to Sergio Mendes and the pop group Blue Ash. Gary's home base at his Peppermint Studios, which has itself, produced 5 Grammy albums. Babbaro will arrive in New York in the next several months to showcase and begin plotting his major-label debut. Says Angelo, “Sometimes, I think I was born too late … the whole meter of that Sinatra-generation appeals to me ten times over … the Stetsons, the overcoats, the thriving city life, the work ethic, the respect … and, yes, the music. It’s timeless … passionate and real.”
