CANCER101, founded by cancer survivor Monica Knoll, is a New York City-based national nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people with breast cancer by providing the essential tools needed to make life-saving decisions. Once again CANCER101 hosted The Boathouse Gala Benefiting CANCER101 and New Yorkers for Charity. This year Crystle Stewart, Miss U.S.A 2008 and Stevi Perry, Miss Teen U.S.A 2008 were in attendance alongside First Lady of the State of New York Michelle Patterson and fashion business start up expert
Liza Deyrmenjian . The Gala’s guests enjoyed cocktails, heavy hor d’oeuvres and dancing. Those who purchased the premium entry tickets had exciting auction items to bid on including a pair of tickets to Greece on Olympic Airlines, two tickets to the People’s Choice Awards plus an invitation to the post-celebrity party, a $14,000 a week Italian Villa and a couple of tickets to American Idol’s 8th elimination round. Sponsors of the event included Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan, The Greater New York Hospital Associate, Grant Thornton, Columbus Avenue Consulting, Grey Goose Vodka and Bacardi. The event took place at the renowned Loeb Boathouse in Central Park which is known for its enchanting and historic setting making it the ultimate venue for this black tie affair.
