NAT SHERMAN'S DONATION TO VETERANS

Commander John Alexander and Joel Sherman

When ABC News broke its story this weekend on the large number of veteran’s charities who got a big F on their report card for how much money actually went to help veterans especially those disabled in Iraq and Afghanistan, it ignited a firestorm of indignation. The report stated some of these charities were giving as little as 3% to the disabled Vets they purported to help.

Some help!! They should all take a look at the operation of The Navy Marine Relief Corps Society founded by Teddy Roosevelt in 1903 and still doing a top notch job and earning a 4 Star rating from charity watchdog Charity Navigator for distributing around 95% to help vets and the families of servicemen still serving.

At a recent preview party of the new Nat Sherman emporium for fine cigars, cigarettes and tobacco products on East 42nd Street in New York City, Joel Sherman son of the company’s founder presented a nice fat check to Commander John Alexander , Vice President of the highly praised relief agency. The Sherman Family has a long and respected track record in supporting worthwhile causes that actually do what they claim to do and don’t just take fat salaries. Smart business all around.

It's good to know (and hear about!) charities actually giving back to the causes they supposedly represent.

God be with the soldiers, women, children and men of war.
